Why Early Access?

“VITA is being developed as a systems-driven exploration game, and Early Access allows players to experience the current playable foundation while development continues.

The current goal of Early Access is to gather feedback on the core experience available in the current build: exploration, scanning discoverable wildlife and environmental subjects, catalog progression, the VITA interface, performance, readability, controls, and early Vivarium-related systems. Player feedback will help prioritize polish, usability improvements, content expansion, and which systems should be simplified, expanded, or reworked during development.

VITA is playable in its current Early Access form, but it is still unfinished and actively changing. Players should purchase the game based on the features currently available, not on future features or planned additions that may change during development.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The current target is for VITA to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 to 24 months.

That estimate may change depending on player feedback, development scope, technical issues, and how much additional content, polish, and stability work is needed before VITA is ready to leave Early Access. If the timeline changes, I plan to communicate that through Steam announcements and store page updates.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The planned 1.0 version of VITA is intended to expand on the Early Access foundation with more content, more polish, and more developed versions of the game’s major systems.

Planned areas of development include additional wildlife and flora to discover, expanded catalog content, improved world presentation, more environmental variety, deeper Vivarium features, additional progression and upgrade content, more messages/logs/lore, improved UI and controller support, better onboarding, performance improvements, bug fixes, audio/visual polish, and more balancing across the exploration and progression loops.

These are development goals, not guaranteed final features. Plans may change based on development realities and community feedback. The final version may not include every idea currently being explored, and priorities may shift as the game develops.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version currently focuses on the core playable foundation of VITA.

Players can currently launch the game, control VITA, explore the available game world, scan discoverable subjects, add discoveries to the catalog, use the current HUD and pause/menu systems, progress through early upgrade and discovery systems, and access early versions of the Vivarium-related progression and summary features.

Some systems are still incomplete, experimental, or subject to change. The Vivarium, catalog, progression balance, UI screens, content volume, environmental polish, onboarding, and controller support are still being developed. Some menu pages or features may be marked as placeholders or “coming soon” while the underlying systems are built out.

Players should expect bugs, rough edges, missing content, balance changes, performance issues, and possible changes to save data compatibility during Early Access. If a future update is expected to affect save compatibility, I plan to communicate that in update notes.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The current plan is for the Early Access price to reflect the amount of content and polish available at the time.

The price may increase as major content, systems, polish, and overall stability are added. Any planned price change will be communicated ahead of time when possible. Early Access players will keep access to the game as it continues development.

I do not plan for VITA to use microtransactions, paid season passes, or paid gameplay content updates during Early Access. My intent is that players who purchase the game are part of the development journey with me, and content updates released during Early Access are planned to be available to everyone who already owns a copy of the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will be used to help prioritize development during Early Access.

I plan to collect feedback through the Steam Community forums, Steam announcements, update notes, bug reports, and player discussions. Feedback will be especially useful for controls, UI readability, performance, scan/discovery pacing, Vivarium clarity, progression balance, accessibility concerns, and which parts of the game feel most or least satisfying.

I will use Steam announcements and patch notes to share development progress, explain major changes, and communicate known issues or upcoming priorities. Not every suggestion can be implemented, but feedback will help shape the order of improvements and the direction of unfinished systems.”
