What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“HAZE is an experimental horror game built on cutting-edge AI generation technology. The core experience is playable and genuinely unsettling, but we're still discovering what this game can become. Early Access lets us develop alongside players who want to help shape something new rather than wait for something polished.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately one year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our current development direction explores expanded ship environments, additional AI subsystems to encounter, more item variety, and refined generation for atmosphere consistency. These represent areas we're actively working on—not guarantees. What actually ships depends on what works technically, what resonates with players, and what we discover along the way. Some features may not pan out; others we haven't considered yet may become central.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable from start to finish. You can explore procedurally generated environments, interact with scenes, collect items, and engage in dialogue-based combat with the ship's AI subsystems. The core horror experience and 16-bit aesthetic are in place. Expect rough edges, balance changes, and significant feature additions as development continues.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We don't plan to change the price. The current price reflects what the game is and what it will become—no bait-and-switch, no early adopter tax. The price stays the same through Early Access and after full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Steam Discussions and Reviews are our primary feedback channels—we monitor both actively. Bug reports and feature requests posted there directly inform patch priorities. We'll post update changelogs explaining what changed and why. We're especially interested in feedback about which horror moments land and which fall flat, since AI-generated content can be unpredictable. No separate Discord—we prefer keeping discussion on Steam where it's searchable and visible to everyone.”

About This Game

A New Kind of Horror

HAZE is a procedurally generated point-and-click horror adventure where AI creates every scene, every narrative, and every terrifying discovery. You pilot a biomechanical android through a derelict spacecraft overrun by alien organic corruption. No two playthroughs are ever the same.

The Mission

You are a remote operator, piloting an android infiltrator through the twisted corridors of a dying ship. The vessel's AI has gone rogue, and organic tendrils now fuse with the ship's infrastructure, spreading like a disease through its systems. Your mission: investigate what happened to the crew and wrest control from the ship's hostile intelligence.

Features

Procedurally Generated Horror Every room, corridor, and discovery is generated in real-time by AI. Scenes are rendered in authentic 16-bit pixel art inspired by classic DOS and Amiga adventure games. No asset reuse. No repeated scares. Every exploration is unique.

Adversarial AI Subsystems The ship's rogue AI defends its territory through dialogue-based combat. Hack into subsystems by presenting evidence, exploiting logical contradictions, and using leverage items found throughout the ship. The AI will mislead, stall, and lock you out.

Clinical Horror Atmosphere Experience dread through the cold, precise observations of your android host. The horror is atmospheric and suggestive, drawing inspiration from Stephen King's style of building unease through detail rather than gore.

Terminal-Based Exploration Navigate through a command-line interface reminiscent of classic sci-fi computing. Scan for anomalies, analyze objects, and execute actions through structured terminal commands.

Branching Story Tree Revisit any previous scene and create new narrative branches. Your choices shape the investigation, and the story adapts to your path through the ship.

Collect and Leverage Scavenge tools, data fragments, and leverage items that can be used to unlock new areas or gain advantage in AI encounters. Every item has a purpose.

The Aesthetic

HAZE recreates the atmosphere of 1990s sci-fi horror games with:

  • 16-bit pixel art rendered in real-time

  • CRT shader effects for authentic retro display

  • Cold, industrial color palettes of steel gray, amber, and sickly green

  • Biomechanical environments where organic growth merges with failing technology

  • Atmospheric sound design with synthesized dread

Warning

NEURAL LINK UNSTABLE. PSYCHOLOGICAL HAZARDS DETECTED.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Haze uses AI to generate unique, procedural game content that ensures no two playthroughs are identical.

AI-Generated Content:
- Scene Imagery: Scenes are generated using Replicate's imagen-4 model, creating unique visual environments as players explore
- Narrative & Dialogue: Google Gemini generates scene descriptions, story text, and contextual responses based on player
actions
- Interactive Elements: AI analyzes scenes to determine clickable areas, available actions, and discoverable items

How It Works:
When players explore the game world, AI services generate new scenes and narrative content in real-time based on the current
story context and player choices. This creates a dynamic, branching experience where the horror unfolds differently for each
player.

Data Usage:
Player interactions are processed to generate contextually appropriate content during gameplay. No player data is used to train
AI models. Game content is generated on-demand and stored locally on the player's device.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

HAZE contains psychological horror themes including isolation, paranoia, and existential dread. The AI-generated imagery may include body horror elements, organic corruption, and disturbing environmental details. There is no sexual content, nudity, or drug/alcohol use. Violence is implied and atmospheric rather than explicit gore. The horror is designed to unsettle through atmosphere and tension rather than graphic content.
