What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Shijing Xiaoshenxian is a life-simulation RPG set in Yueming Town, rendered in traditional Chinese ink-wash style. You inherit your parents' old inn and build it up — developing recipes through a hands-on cooking minigame, serving guests, running trade caravans, bidding at auctions, and befriending 40+ neighbors, each with their own story. We are launching in Early Access because the core gameplay is ready to be played and enjoyed, while several systems and the main story are still being completed. Player feedback during this period will directly shape our priorities: which systems to deepen, how to tune the economy, and what stories to tell next.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to graduate from Early Access once the main story and all planned lifestyle systems are complete and polished. Our current estimate is roughly 6 to 12 months, and we will keep the community updated on our progress along the way.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version includes the complete inn-management core loop: recipe development, guest service, gardening, and the trade caravan system, along with a substantial portion of the main story. The full version will add more lifestyle systems and story chapters, plus additional recipes, neighbors, and events. We will also continue polishing the game based on player feedback throughout Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is fully playable: you can run your inn day to day, develop and master recipes, grow vegetables and flowers in your garden, serve guests, and build your trade caravan. The main story is partially implemented, and new content updates will arrive regularly during Early Access. As with any Early Access title, you may encounter bugs — please report them and we will fix them promptly.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we ship new content and features during Early Access, so players who join early will pay less. The full release will be priced higher than the Early Access version. We will always announce any price change to the community in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We read all player feedback — Steam discussions, reviews, and our community channels. Bug reports and balance suggestions will be prioritized in our update roadmap, and we will post regular development updates so you can see how your input shapes the game.”

An old inn is now yours

Your parents said "off traveling" and vanished, leaving you the inn. You've never run a shop: you learn the books, handle difficult guests and fix the roof yourself. Hire staff, send buyers to the market, take orders and settle up, then close the ledger at dusk. As business grows the inn rises in rank, and a finished upper floor brings new staff and private rooms.

Skill at the stove

New dishes are worked out at the stove in a hands-on minigame. Famous recipes come from caravans, auctions and cricket fights. Regulars have their own tastes, and their praise or complaints go into the guestbook.

87 neighbors, 87 lives

Fishmongers, teachers, waiters... each of Yueming's 87 neighbors has a trade and a temper. Grow from acquaintance to friend to confidant, unlocking their inner thoughts and perks of their trade: daily fish deliveries, or a quiet tip on tomorrow's prices.

Small gifts, warm hearts

Give a candied haw or a bunch of flowers and they'll answer back, and their feelings for you will shift.

Heart red, reason blue

Every choice leans toward warmth or principle, and it all gathers into a red-and-blue tassel the town remembers.

Tricks of the market

Seven kinds of food rise and fall in price each day. Friends share forecasts, vendors offer daily delivery, and Liu Yi will split bulk orders to bring the price down.

Flowers and greens out back

Grow balsam, morning glories, radishes and crown daisies. Order rare seeds from out of town, send flowers to someone by morning, and fill your album.

Guild, estates and auctions

Become a guild patron: send caravans to Bianjing, Yunjin, Rongwan and more, and push Yueming up the eight-town rankings. Sign contracts with farms, herb gardens, weavers and perfumers, and bid at auctions.

Children at the school

Teach at the school, and talk with parents about their children, whose mood, diligence and grades are shown on a little card.

Red threads at the Matchmaker's Hall

Take on cases, learn both sides' hearts, host a meeting, and pick a betrothal hairpin for a happy couple. You can fall in love yourself, too: meet someone special in town, grow closer, and give them a betrothal hairpin of your own.

A map that keeps growing

As your savings grow, the map opens up: the night market, the Shunbao house, cricket tournaments.

One night paper, one more day

Each night brings a paper with the day's takings, tomorrow's errands and town gossip. The old debt falls due on the morning of the 30th of the third month. How you spend the month decides your ending.

You don't need to please everyone in Yueming Town. Just be a carefree little immortal of the marketplace.
