Leaving Early Access: October 2026

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Tollway Tycoon is built to be a chaotic, replayable management sandbox — traffic jams, staff problems, disasters, weird events, questionable decisions, and systems constantly colliding in unexpected ways.

Early Access is the best way to grow that chaos with players involved. I want to see how people run their toll empire, what breaks, what feels unfair, what becomes hilarious, and what deserves to be expanded next.

Your feedback will help shape balance, events, upgrades, staff systems, contracts, progression, and future content. The goal is to turn Tollway Tycoon into a deeper, funnier, more replayable management game — with the community helping decide what kind of madness gets added along the way.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Having already shipped a complete game (The Red Front), my aim is to have the full release completed within 6-9 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Tollway Tycoon is fully playable from the start through to the current 20-day end goal. You can run a complete toll operation across multiple in-game days, manage staff, complete contracts and directives, respond to breakdowns, deal with road damage, survive strange events, and upgrade your HQ, toll booths, and road infrastructure.

Many core systems are already in place, and several events are at a high level of polish. The game already delivers the intended mix of traffic management, financial pressure, staff problems, upgrades, and unpredictable chaos.

That said, this is still an Early Access game. Content is not final, balance will change, some systems are still rough or being expanded, and bugs should be expected. You may encounter jank, broken interactions, performance issues, or the occasional catastrophic pile-up.

In short: the game is very playable and already offers the core Tollway Tycoon experience, but it is still growing, changing, and being improved with player feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. Tollway Tycoon is expected to increase in price once it leaves Early Access, as more content, features, polish, and replayability are added.

Players who buy during Early Access will keep the game and receive future updates at the lower entry price. Early Access is intended to be the best-value time to jump in, support development, and help shape the game as it grows.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I’ll be actively discussing with players on the Steam forums and Discord, sharing update plans, and asking for feedback on new systems, balance changes, and event ideas. I want to react quickly to what players are enjoying or struggling with, run small experiments, and let the community help decide which types of chaos, upgrades, and quality-of-life features should be prioritised next.”

About This Game

Tollway Tycoon is a chaotic little management sim about running the least glamorous part of the transport network: a toll plaza on a very cursed stretch of highway.

You’re in charge of everything the drivers never think about – staffing booths, keeping the road drivable, dealing with breakdowns, repairing potholes, cleaning up after “incidents”, and trying desperately to keep the cars (mostly) flowing and the money (definitely) flowing.

On paper it’s simple: hire workers, assign them to booths, upgrade your HQ and squeeze a bit more revenue out of each lane. In reality? Cars catch fire, craters open in the asphalt, UFO abductions, zombies, prostestors trying to shutdown your operation and general insanity which keeps your team one step behind the chaos.

Every day (and night) you will be given a fresh challenge to put a twist on things, but this does not slow down the other chaotic events which happen. Even a driver having a bad day can throw your operations completely out and risk bankruptcy.

Tollway Tycoon is about that sweet spot between efficiency and disaster: the satisfaction of a perfectly flowing operation, then the dark comedy when it all goes completely off the rails.
