Before They Catch us is a text game in the author's fantasy setting, inspired by human fear of the unknown, and the culture of nomadic peoples with an admixture of religious motives. You will have to go a long way through the pages getting to know the game world, meet many colorful characters and decide how your paths intersect, visit unprecedented visions and try to understand them, and perhaps change the course of history of the whole world.

World

A once ordinary world, most of which was swallowed up by ominous mushroom forests. The forest never stands still and is constantly moving, occupying flowering meadows and leaving behind devastated steppes. The few survivors are forced to lead a nomadic lifestyle, constantly running away from the advancing forest, thirsting for their death.

Plot

You will have to live the story of a young prophet, who unexpectedly for everyone began to be haunted by visions not only in a dream, but also in reality.

Perform rituals, avoid contamination by spores, face the cruelty of the inhabitants of the mushroom forest and other clans, and all this for the sake of one goal. Walk your Path, remaining pure in the eyes of the ancestors, and stay alive.

Gameplay

The game consists of 3 Chapters, each of which describes an important episode in the character's history. As you read the story, you will influence its outcome by making important choices on behalf of the main character, there will be many of them on your way, but only a few are able to turn history upside down, and lead you to one of 4 endings. You will also have to interpret the symbols that you see in visions, comparing them with possible meanings in the mini-game. Only by establishing the right connections will you find out what the Ancestors really wanted to tell you.
