What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Engram is an ambitious narrative-driven RPG that embraces procedural storytelling, nonlinear progression, and emotionally reactive characters. Its innovation lies not only in the way stories are told—but in how players shape them.

Because of this design philosophy, Engram requires an extended period of hands-on testing, iteration, and real-world feedback. Early Access allows us to refine complex branching storylines, emotional dialogue systems, and procedural narrative tools with the help of a passionate community.

This process also gives us the opportunity to co-create with our players—expanding the world, enriching character arcs, and shaping new content based on how people truly play and connect with the story. With your support, Engram will grow into a richer, more resonant experience—one that evolves as your journey unfolds.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The early access would sustain roughly 1-2 year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand the storyline and functionality of interactions with the development of the Early Access progress.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The early access version contains the full explore features of the game with the first chapter of the story, which contains for about 2-10 hours of gameplay. Refer to "About this" page to see the full features implemented.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We would raise the price based on the progress of new contents.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We encourage every player to provide their ideas, suggestions and bug reports for the game. We will monitor which choices players gravitate toward, which storylines resonate most, and where the pacing or logic might need refinement. This will directly shape the development of future narrative arcs, endings, and character interactions. Since Engram uses custom-built procedural storytelling systems, community bug reports and UX feedback will be invaluable in helping us refine stability, dialogue flow, and player clarity.”

About This Game

Game Introduction

Engram is a Computer RPG focused on role-playing and storytelling. Here, you accompany your ailing sister Mia through a post-apocalyptic sci-fi world in search of a miracle to cure her.

How you spend Mia’s limited life becomes your central dilemma — do you devote time to helping her fulfill her wishes, or relentlessly search for a cure?

Will you uncover the truth buried beneath the cold wasteland dust, or join a faction and seek protection?

Every path ahead depends on the details of your choices. The information, tone, and attitude in each free-text input you make will shape NPC fates, the story’s direction, and ultimately the game world’s ending. You may regret some decisions — if so, use our special system: time rewind. Return to any past day and make different choices. But be warned: the butterfly effects are as intricate as a web—changing one strand may trigger many unforeseen consequences…

Background

Affected by extreme climate, the atmosphere was damaged, forcing humans to relocate and live in underground tunnel-city corridors. Human civilization suffered catastrophic blows from the extreme climate, leaving only four concentrated population centers: the Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter corridors.

The corridors are powered by lightning-collection facilities on the surface, so electricity has become the corridors’ most vital resource. Your sister Mia’s illness requires proton-beam therapy to improve her chances of survival. However, this therapy consumes a large amount of power and requires specialized equipment—none of which exist in the corridors.

Thus begins the player’s journey to explore the surface.

Gameplay

Make Your Own Choices

Your every choice—not only the personality of the character you play but also the order in which you make decisions—is smoothly integrated into the original script and worldview framework under the guidance of AI technology, creating a story and adventure that belong to you. At the same time, every NPC will adapt to your changes, delivering tailored performances and reactions.

The Uncertainty of Dice Rolling

The uncertainty of fate begins with two six-sided dice. Here, your character attributes will be tested, and different test results will give you distinct stages to play out. But you are not forced to accept outcomes passively: a variety of skill cards give you the right to alter roll results and probabilities!

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Players can generate unique lines for stories based on their text input within their adventure. Additionally, the actions and thoughts of the NPCs players interacted with are controlled through Lattice AI Technology, enabling more engaging and intuitive interactions.
