About This Game

Four Torches. One Dungeon. No One Makes It Back Alone.

Torchestra is a first-person co-op dungeon crawler built in a lovingly crafted, blocky voxel style. Invite up to three friends through Steam, choose your classes around the campfire, and descend into a dungeon that changes with every seed. Far below, your torches are often your only source of light. Each level gets more dangerous than the last.

You can venture out alone, but Torchestra is made for four players. Enemies and bosses scale to your group size. Every class brings something different, and none is essential. Any group can find its own path to victory.

Nine Classes. Nine Ways to Play.

Shieldbearer: Wears heavy armor, blocks attacks with a shield, and swings a mace that can hit several enemies at once.

Stalker: Fights with two daggers. Quick on their feet and in the attack, they’re especially dangerous against single targets.

Runesmith: Wields a rune staff with the longest melee reach in the group.

Field Medic: Revives fallen teammates twice as fast and carries extra healing potions.

Necromancer: Summons skeletons and an undead knight, or curses enemies.

Dwarf: Small, tough, and armed with two axes. Makes enemies bleed, charges into them, and can jump twice as high. In return, the Dwarf is vulnerable to magic.

Hunter: Attacks from a distance with a crossbow and calls an animal companion. The wolf causes bleeding, the bear draws enemy attention, and the owl marks targets so the whole group can deal more damage.

Druid: Transforms into a bear, a wolf, or a panther that remains invisible until it attacks.

Tinkerer: Fights with two pistols and builds a robot equipped with a turret, grenade launcher, or flame turret. The Tinkerer also carries flash grenades and can craft special ammunition at the workbench.

Each class has its own talent tree with three branches, passive nodes, and a final talent. Talents remain unlocked as long as your character survives. If they die, those talents are lost. Spend your points wisely.

A Dungeon That Changes Every Run

Each level is generated from a seed and is the same for all four players. Five level themes cycle as you descend, each with its own stone, fog, and torchlight. Discover libraries, armories, crypts, throne rooms, prison cells, well chambers, shrines, and treasure vaults.

Thirteen Vast Cavern Areas, Each with Its Own Dangers

  • Chasms crossed by rope bridges, underground lakes, poisonous swamps, and lava pools

  • An underground forest; an abandoned mine with ore veins and mine carts; and a giant mushroom forest filled with poisonous spores

  • Ice caves with slippery floors; a crystal grotto that reflects enemy spells; and a sunken ruin with knee-deep water and giant eels

  • A Dwarven forge with lava channels and steam vents; a bone pit beneath a necrotic totem; and a shadow realm where only your torchlight keeps the shadow creatures at bay

Stay alert even between fights. Puzzle rooms require the whole group to stand on pressure plates at the same time. Potions can explode in alchemist labs, an arena sends five waves of enemies after the gong sounds, and you can free merchants or mercenaries from prison cells. Some treasure chests fight back.

Spike, arrow, boulder, and bear traps lie in wait along the corridors. Some rooms lock behind you and turn into ambushes. Open locked doors with colored keys shared by the whole group.

Enemies and Boss Fights

Dozens of enemy types lurk in the dungeon’s depths: rats, slingshot goblins, spiders, orcs, skeletal hounds, fire golems, fishfolk, shadow creatures, and many more. They patrol, pursue you, and attack in packs. Rare elite enemies are protected by magical shields that you must break with repeated hits.

Every fifth level ends in a boss arena with a sealed staircase. Face the Giant Slime, the Minotaur, the Gunner in its spider nest with eight cannons, the Fire Lord in a hall filled with lava, or, from level 10 onward, the Pirate King and his undead crew. Defeat a boss and every fallen player returns.

Loot, Gear, and Progression

  • Find shared loot throughout the world and manage your own inventory with a hotbar and drag-and-drop controls.

  • Collect weapons, armor, health and mana potions, elixirs, gems, and gold.

  • Visit a merchant on every level.

  • Gather materials and craft special ammunition, bone, iron, and steel weapons, as well as class weapons at the workbench. These include the Hunter’s muzzleloader, a lever-action rifle, and a grenade launcher.

  • Repair your gear, level up, and spend attribute points.

  • Customize your hero’s appearance in the character editor.

Rise Together. Fall Together.

Going down doesn’t mean you’re out. Your friends can revive you, and the Field Medic can do it twice as fast. If the entire group falls, the run ends and you must start again from level 1.

After every boss, you’ll reach a Return Shrine. Use it to secure a few items or leave the dungeon and send all your gear back to storage. The stash is shared by every character on your PC, so you can begin your next run with equipment you’ve already secured.
