Why Early Access?

“This game is currently being made by only me! Early access gives me the opportunity to get feedback MUCH earlier while the game is still in its infancy. I also believe that roguelikes work very well as early access titles since a full run will be available in some form but the items and content in a run will be what is iterated upon. In an ideal world where I didn't need to worry about keeping myself alive, I'd adopt the model of the past and release a fully complete game in a couple of years, but I just don't live in that reality.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I don't know exactly, but depending on how much time I have to work on the project I estimate between 3-9 months. There are various milestones that I would like to hit and a level of polish that I would like to maintain before fully releasing.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The early access version will focus entirely on polishing the roguelike experience. We plan on including multiple playable protobouncers, improving the procedural world generation, maintaining seamless local multiplayer, and adding more entities and intrigue into levels.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently there is only the procedurally generated open world that the player can move around in alone or in a seamless split-screen fashion.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Very likely yes. This is because the early access version will be cheaper and based on the content present, whereas the full version will be the price that I am aiming to make the game worthy of being bought at.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Any feedback from players will be actively considered and welcome. The best way to give feedback and get involved in Protobouncer's development would be through a community Discord server and Steam community posts!”
