What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are choosing Early Access because we want to grow our game together with our players. Currently, our development is limited by technical and system-related constraints, but we have a strong vision for what the game can become. By launching in Early Access, we aim to gather feedback, improve the overall experience, and implement major updates such as enhanced visuals, a reworked combat system, and multiplayer functionality. Working closely with our community will help us shape a richer, more immersive survival experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are not ready to commit to an exact timeframe, but we plan to remain in Early Access for up to 1 year. During this period, we will focus on refining gameplay mechanics, expanding environments, optimizing systems, and implementing features based on community feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of the game is planned to include:

-Full multiplayer support
-Significantly improved combat mechanics
-Visual upgrades across all biomes (forest, mountain, snow, desert)
-Expanded story elements and side missions
-More creatures, items, and craftable content
-Better AI behavior and environmental interaction
-Polished UI and optimized performance across systems

However, all these improvements will be shaped by both our roadmap and player feedback during Early Access. Our goal is to deliver a complete, stable, and deeply engaging survival experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version currently includes:

-A large open world with forest, mountain, snow, and desert biomes
-Core survival systems such as hunger, crafting, exploration, and basic AI
-A working story progression system and inventory system
-Creatures and threats that challenge the player
-Atmospheric visuals and immersive sound design
-Single-player mode with free roam and mission-based structure

However, many systems are still in development or at an early stage. Performance optimization, multiplayer, advanced combat, and creature AI are some of the key areas we aim to improve post-launch.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, we plan to gradually increase the price as we add new content and major features. Early Access supporters will benefit from the lower initial price and will receive all future updates at no additional cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback will be a core part of our development. We will actively monitor forums, Steam discussions, and direct player messages to identify bugs, gather suggestions, and prioritize new features. We also plan to share development updates, future plans, and polls to give players a voice in shaping the game's direction. Our goal is to build a long-term relationship with our community and grow the game together.”

About This Game

Something went wrong in Blackpine.

An unexplained anomaly has transformed the region. Research teams sent to investigate have vanished, communications have gone silent, and dangerous creatures now roam the land.

You are sent to uncover what happened.

But Blackpine is no longer a place where survival can be taken for granted.

When the Sun Dies is a first-person, open-world survival crafting game where exploration, base building, resource management, and combat come together in a mysterious, hostile world.

Explore forests, abandoned facilities, underground caves, and mysterious locations scattered across a procedurally generated world.

Dig into the terrain, mine valuable resources, discover hidden supplies, and follow the traces left behind by missing research teams.

Every expedition brings new opportunities — and new dangers.

Gather resources, construct your shelter, and turn it into a fully functioning survival base.

  • Build structures and crafting stations.

  • Grow crops, cook meals, and manage food supplies.

  • Craft weapons, tools, and specialized equipment.

  • Repair damaged gear and improve your production.

  • Research new technologies and expand your capabilities.

Your base is more than a shelter. It's the foundation of your survival.

Hunger, thirst, exhaustion, disease, and dangerous environmental conditions are constant threats.

But nature isn't your only enemy.

The Yellow Storm forces you to seek protection while creating opportunities to collect rare resources.

The Long Night brings extended darkness and relentless enemy attacks, testing everything you've prepared.

Sometimes survival means fighting. Sometimes it means knowing when to retreat.

Face dangerous mutants with different behaviors, attacks, and abilities.

Fight using melee weapons, firearms, and specialized combat skills.

Gain experience, develop your character, discover powerful equipment, and unleash devastating abilities through the Rage system.

The deeper you venture into Blackpine, the greater the challenges — and the rewards.

Follow abandoned research notes and mysterious clues to uncover the secrets of Blackpine.

Activate forgotten facilities, survive enemy waves, explore dangerous labyrinths, and confront powerful guardians.

Three mysterious Obelisks stand at the center of the region's instability.

Finding them may be the key to restoring the world.

Take on Blackpine alone or join forces with up to three friends in online co-op.

Explore, gather resources, construct your base, prepare for dangerous expeditions, and face the threats of Blackpine together.

The world is changing. The storms are coming.

How long can you survive when the sun dies?
