What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want Storm Seas to be a living, evolving experience—and what better way to achieve that than by involving the community from the very beginning? Early Access allows us to refine mechanics, balance trading systems, fine-tune survival difficulty, and expand content based on direct player feedback.

Storm Seas already has a solid foundation: navigation, trading, survival, naval combat, and resource production. But we want to go further—adding new features, optimizing performance, and shaping the game alongside our players. Early Access gives us the opportunity to build a deeper, more challenging, and more fun world—together.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our goal is to keep Storm Seas in Early Access for 6 to 12 months, depending on player feedback and the time needed to implement new features and content. We are committed to releasing a full version only when the game is polished and meets both our expectations and the community's.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version of Storm Seas to feature:
More cities and trade routes.
New ship types and expanded customization options.
An expanded building and production system.
More complex dynamic events (such as storms, invasions, and piracy).
Visual and performance improvements.
Additional missions, secrets, and narrative elements.
Improved balancing and quality-of-life features based on community feedback.

Our goal is to provide a richer, more polished experience with significantly more content shaped together with our players.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Right now, Storm Seas already includes:
A fully explorable open world based on the 18th-century Caribbean.
A dynamic trading system between multiple ports.
Basic survival mechanics (food, water, and rest management).
Optional naval combat encounters.
Land purchasing and personal resource production.
Navigation with dynamic weather and random events.
Several types of ships with upgrade options.
The game is fully playable and stable, but there are still features to be added and tweaked. Regular updates and improvements are expected throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to increase the price slightly once the full version is released, reflecting the added features and content. We want to reward early supporters with a better value.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community will play a central role in our development process. We will actively listen to suggestions, feedback, and bug reports through our official channels (Steam forums and Discord). We'll host polls, collect ideas, and provide regular updates with development roadmaps, allowing players to help shape the future of Storm Seas.”
