About This Game

❝ A face never before seen anywhere in this world ❞

Behind colossal walls, where not even the wind can reach, lies the land of Daman-gol (牆內谷), "the Valley Within the Walls."

The man found collapsed at its gate wore clothing no craftsman in the village had ever made. He could not see, and he could not remember his own name. The villagers called him Kangwoon (降雲), "the Descending Cloud."

He is a stranger said to have come from the world beyond the walls. He knows neither the language of this land nor its memories. But because he knows nothing, the world unfolds before him raw and unfiltered, and that strangeness shows Daman-gol more vividly than anything else could.

Yet he cannot truly see this world on his own. Beside him are two sub-characters, each struggling to hold on to a fading soul.

TWO CHARACTERS, ONE HAND

《Phantom Gaze》is a side-scrolling action RPG in which a single player controls two characters at once: Kangwoon and a sub-character.

Division of Roles: Kangwoon the swordsman and Arin the archer play different roles in battle. You control Kangwoon directly as he takes on large enemies head-on. Arin roams the battlefield on her own, and when you trigger a skill she responds instantly from wherever she stands, adding firepower and utility.

Shared Sight: The closer your sub-character stays, the wider your field of vision. If your sub-character falls or drifts too far away, Kangwoon's vision narrows. Staying together is part of the story, and it is also an absolute condition of combat.

PARRY: READ THE EXACT MOMENT THE BLOW LANDS

Combat in 《Phantom Gaze》centers on breaking an enemy's Balance (BAL) gauge to knock it down. To bring a foe down, either hit it with a relentless barrage or neutralize it in one stroke with a perfect parry. Choose from three parries to suit the flow of battle.

Mind's Eye (心眼): Kangwoon's melee parry. Meet the enemy's attack head-on with a sharp sword strike, then punish it with follow-up attacks alongside your sub-character.

Radiant Formation (光明陣): Arin's ranged parry. Her arrows raise a barrier that blocks projectiles coming from every direction. Absorb enemy attacks while the barrier stands, then counter with follow-up strikes alongside Kangwoon.

Jeol-yeong (絶影): A special parry used mid-attack. It blocks the enemy's counterattack without breaking the flow of your combo. Time it right and you can trigger it several times in a row.

Power of Serenity: Serenity builds up when you hunt enemies and collect their power, when you go a long time without being hit, or when you parry an attack with Mind's Eye. Spend your stored Serenity to empower any attack.

Some enemy attacks make parrying easier and others make it harder. Face your foes, turn their attacks back with parries, and use your stored Serenity to wipe them out in a single stroke.

SUB-CHARATORS: THE SECOND PILLAR OF BATTLE

Arin moves on her own, but she is far more than a support character. And Arin is not Kangwoon's only sub-character: another ally will fight at his side as well. The skills available to you change depending on who you bring.

Clear Division of Labor: While Kangwoon grapples with large enemies, Arin deals with the smaller foes around him. How you grow Arin and which abilities you upgrade decide how fully Kangwoon can focus on the fight in front of him.

Weak Points and Bestiary Hints: Every monster has its own weak point. Use hints from the Monster Bestiary, and strike with Arin's Crescent Moon Arrow (弦月矢) at the moment an enemy takes a particular action. Doing so shatters its Balance gauge in one blow and knocks it down.

Weaponize the Environment: Use the Crescent Moon Arrow to hit structures on the battlefield, such as ceiling pillars, hanging boulders and crumbling debris, and bring them down on monsters. Turn the battlefield itself into your weapon.

EXPLORATION & PUZZLES: A WORLD SOLVED TOGETHER

The land within the walls is not simply laid out. Some paths Kangwoon cannot open alone, and some ancient mechanisms only work with a sub-character at his side. Explore hidden spaces that open only when you control both characters at once, switch their order, or sometimes move them in opposite directions.

AN EASTERN WORLD, THROUGH A STRANGER'S EYES

The world of 《Phantom Gaze》is built on an East Asian setting.

Daman-gol, the land within the walls, captures the spirit of Korea. The history and fears of this world live in the hanja names of its monsters: Gyeolnabi (結蝶, "Knotterfly"), Jaryeong Seokgoe (紫靈石傀, "Silent Stone Golem") and Taeam Giwonsu (胎岩祈怨獸, "Origin Beast: Taeam").

The full game will open up a range of original East Asian locations. The demo is only the beginning of the journey.
