YOU ARE CHARLOTTE, AND CHARLOTTE IS NO ONE.

In 1954, scientist John C. Lilly invented the sensory deprivation tank: a machine that isolated the subject from all five senses and left only the influence of the mind. Through his research, Lilly touched the depths of the human psyche and discovered his own answers to the universe.

Now, decades later, seventeen-year-old Charlotte is desperate to crack the code to human consciousness. Alone in the world and repelled by human connection, Charlotte believes her only path to happiness is through sensory deprivation. But when an ambitious overbearing stranger saves her from certain death, things start to become a lot more complicated–and a lot more weird.
