« Our goal in early access is primarily to collect feedback from our Steam players in order to support the improvement and expansion of the game in order to continue to grow our community. »

Pendant combien de temps environ ce jeu sera-t-il en accès anticipé ?

« We plan to be in Early Access for at least one year. Much depends on how rapidly the community grows, and whether player feedback requires more extensive changes than we currently anticipate. Our goal is to release a game that is well tested and well balanced and early access will be key to that effort. »

« The full version will feature UX refinements, improved combat systems and player progression balance, expanded content, new game modes, enhanced graphics and sound, and some new friends and matchmaking features. »

« The current Early Access version features:

5 unique nuclear-powered space fighters armed with lasers, missiles, cannons & railguns:
  • Shrike-class light fighter with 4 variants: Razor, Dagger, Stiletto, and Dirk
  • Kolibri-class light fighter with 3 variants: Axe, Sword, and Longbow
  • Reus-class medium fighter with 3 variants: Comet, Shooting Star, Thunderbolt
  • Hyperion-class heavy fighter with 4 variants: Mark 1, Mk 2 Selene, Mk 3 Eos, Mk 4 Helios
  • Pegasus-class assault transport with 3 variants: Spectre, Spooky, Shadow

ShipFrame Editor to customize the loadout, appearance, and name of each of your fighters

BloodSport Mode: arena-style multiplayer combat featuring Assault, Conquest and Team Deathmatch modes, each supporting up to 5v5

Contract Mode: single-player missions featuring a range of offensive and defensive scenarios: Debris Sweep, Drone Sweep, Interdiction, Raid, Recon, Search & Destroy, Ship Strike, and Station Defense

Simulator Mode: single-player tutorials for Basic Flight and Combat as well as open-ended challenges: Free Flight, Onboarding, Instant Action and Proving Grounds

Battlespaces located throughout the solar system: Mars, the asteroid belt, Saturn and its moons Titan and Enceladus »

Nuclear-Powered Space Combat

In The Black ® is an intense single- and online multiplayer space combat simulator that is laser focused on the combat pilot experience. Elevating the visceral excitement of a cockpit shooter with a serious respect for science makes it one of the few games to earn the Atomic Rockets Seal of Approval.

Set in our own solar system 200 years in the future, players are private military contractors (mercenaries) hired by ruthless megacorporations to fight their shadow wars for control of the system’s resources. There is a rich mix of combat scenarios, 2-4 player cooperative play, and 5v5 team-based multiplayer, plus deep customization options.

The Impeller Studios team is led by industry veterans Jack Mamais (MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries, Far Cry, and Crysis) and David Wessman (the X-Wing / TIE Fighter series, Blood Wake, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, and Saints Row). We are hardcore gamers ourselves and we believe the best games are skill-based and intrinsically rewarding. And we really like the idea of flying nuclear-powered rockets through the rings of Saturn to engage in explosive high tech mayhem using lasers, missiles, and railguns!
