Together, we'll shape a game that meets all our expectations—and beyond that, is well-balanced by the time of the final release!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“For an Early Access title, there’s no fate more tragic than being trapped in development limbo. That’s why Wolfhain made sure that the Early Access release is already far enough along for subsequent updates to follow quickly.
The Early Access phase is not intended to exceed 12 months. However, things don’t always go as planned, so please don’t take this timeframe as a guarantee!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The current plan for the full version of Leavers Rift is to expand on all areas of the game. This may include:

More enemies
Alternative bosses
A fourth hero
Additional relics and events
New chapters and battlefields
A fourth region

Depending on how development progresses, we’re also hoping to add:

Support for more languages
Controller and Steam Deck support
Original soundtracks

We also intend to incorporate community feedback where possible. Balancing and debugging are expected to improve further over time, with the goal of reaching a more refined state by full release.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Early Access includes:

3 heroes with 60 cards each.
Around 100 relics.
Act 1 of the story.
A handcrafted game world for each chapter and region.
3 regions.
Around 40 events.
Around 20 enemies and 3 bosses.

Finishing Chapter 3 with all 3 heroes will likely keep you busy for dozens of hours .”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Transparency and fairness are two qualities indie games should stand for. That’s why it’s only logical that the unfinished version of the game comes at a lower price.
To avoid a sudden price jump at the final release, it's planned to increase the price slightly with each major content update.
In other words, the Early Access version is cheaper!”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“You already know what you’re being brought in for—balancing, hunting nasty bugs, and general feedback.
But how will your feedback reach Wolfhain? Will he roam the grove like a lone wolf, listening to your howls?
Of course not. Wolfhain plans to set up a Discord server as soon as capacity allows. With only a handful of players, it would be a burden without real benefit. But with a small community, it will hopefully become fertile ground to create the best deckbuilder experience together!
If things go smoothly, a hotfix with Discord access will follow ASAP—keeps the bots out right from the start =)

Until then, Wolfhain keeps eyes and ears wide open. Every Steam review is planned to be read with care.”

More than a deck builder

In Leavers Rift, you don't just play cards. You travel through a world that is undergoing change, guided by the stories of heroes and companions. Learn what it means to love. Discover new life forms. Examine fossils. Explore your newly awakened feelings that surpass every echo. Study the influences of the mother and the stranger.

Progressive Roguelike

If you defeat the final boss of the respective chapter, the game progresses to the next chapter, and so does the world. The difficulty increases and the world reacts to the growing influences of the Leavers Rift. While your journey may begin in an open world full of possibilities, you will soon find yourself climbing mountains or crossing deep gorges. Who knows where your journey will take you next. Only one thing is certain: the Leavers Rift does not want to be crossed...! But you will still try again!

Explore a surreal world

The Leavers Rift is an anomaly that puts the fate of your world to the test. Travel through an immersive game world to study the changes up close. Discover quirky limestone formations, novel resources, and non-magical life forms that defy your understanding. Your journey begins in the Twilight Marsh, leads through the Suffering Desert, and ends in the Forest of the Remembrance, where the nature of two deities meets. Will you choose the direct path through the dangerous lands, or will you decide to uncover every remote secret?

Play distinctive heroes

Bring death and suffering upon your enemies with the metallic Legionnaire. Transform your weapon arm to adapt to any situation, whether sword, shield, or the legendary Legionnaire's spear. Depending on the weapon, your actions gain special effects, so use the flexibility wisely. And if your arsenal does not help you further, resort to the rust infection, which resembles a plague in the magical world. Only those who internalize the nature of the Legionnaire will become the personification of conquest.

As a Sun Mantis, you conjure illusions of yourself and sacrifice a large portion of your cards for powerful effects. But the wisest Sun Mantis raises what is lost from the ashes and even strengthen it, thus forming an endless cycle of burning and rebirth. Enlighten yourself to unlock the powers of the suns and the true nature of your abilities. Master all techniques, and your enemies will go up in flames.

As a Jinni, ensure balance on the battlefield as well as in your deck. Balance self-destructive attacks and healing. Or dare to activate overpowering reserve abilities with minimal life points. But every balance thrives on its circulation. Draw card after card to always find the answer to the most dangerous situations. Master your inner self, and even the gods will learn to respect you.

Survive strange creatures

The dangers in Leavers Rift have many faces. Lost souls from species of your world, like the proud Formless, who wants to win every fight in a duel. Or creatures shaped by the influences of the Leavers Rift, like the Gardener, who seems to be neither dead nor alive. Particularly tragic are those creatures that have been washed here from other dimensions and now lead a desolate existence, like the Suffering Rock Screams, trapped in a fate they cannot even comprehend. But most life forms are the beasts and animals that defy the logic of your world, such as the Wingtails, which, through non-magical behavior, can even bring new life forms into the world.

Meet fascinating people

Not only the heroes have been drawn to these realms. The blacksmith seeks unexpected wealth here due to a lack of competition. The little alchemist only ended up here by chance, happy about the juicy hearts that grow in the strange creatures. The shadow crawler, on the other hand, is plagued by a bleak fate that he skillfully hides from you. And the Sacura came here to study the mysteries of this world that the Leavers Rift brought with it. Only those who recognize them as their companions will achieve their personal goal: crossing the Leavers Rift. Who knows what lies behind the magical curtain...
