What exactly is mobOS?

mobOS is an early 2000's internet exploration and life simulator that lives and breathes alongside you, all taking place inside of a fully featured Virtual Machine. Explore an evolving & interactive web full of forums, downloadable software, web/downloadable games, and even make online friends!

In this game, you play as yourself exclusively. You don't play as any big-shot hero and you don't have to do a single thing that you don't want to do. What you choose to experience in mobOS is completely up to you, just like the real world wide web.

This Wacky World

The world outside of mobOS is a completely fictional universe with many differences to the real world that is a ton of fun learn about and explore in. Fictional history, fictional video games, fictional TV shows, fictional game consoles and so much more to discover!

Complete Virtual Machine / Workshop Support

mobOS takes place inside of a fully featured Virtual Machine. All software inside of the game is written inside of the game itself, compiled to a form of bytecode that mobOS can read and interpret.

For most players, you won't need to worry about this at all. This is not a programming game, but for those who want to make workshop content, you'll be able to directly in the game itself!
