Why Early Access?

“During Early Access, I plan to work on several larger updates and use player feedback to further develop existing systems, gradually integrate new content, and identify issues early. The game is intended to be further expanded over time on the way to version 1.0, based on the currently planned updates.

Since I am developing the game on my own, many systems initially feel solid during internal testing but only show where adjustments are needed once they are played in real gameplay situations. These kinds of changes are easier to evaluate and prioritize with active player feedback than through internal testing alone.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Early Access will start on February 12, 2026. Based on the current development plan, I currently expect the Early-Access phase to last around 9 months.
Several larger updates are planned on the way to version 1.0, with each update currently estimated to require roughly three months of development time. This forms the basis for the current estimate of the Early-Access duration.

This timeline is based on the current state of development and the existing roadmap. If certain areas require more time during development, this plan may change accordingly. Quality and stability are more important to me than adhering to a fixed end date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full release, I plan to expand Fields of Fortune in several directions. Larger updates are planned to deepen existing gameplay mechanics and add new content.

The focus includes additional automation options, further gameplay systems, and more depth in existing mechanics, as outlined in the current roadmap.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is fully playable and already represents the complete core experience of the game. All central gameplay systems are implemented and can be used from early progression through the later stages of the game.

Players can freely design their own island by placing buildings, roads, paths, and fields. Crops, vegetables, bushes, and trees can be planted, harvested, and processed. Trees can be cut down, stones can be mined, and resources can be gathered and refined.

Players can visit procedurally generated wild islands, travel to the city, trade goods, buy resources, and sell their own products. Animals can be bought, cared for, and sold. The game features production chains that allow players to automate products from raw resources to finished goods, with more advanced systems, recipes, and buildings being unlocked through quest progression.

In addition, players can go fishing, complete quests and quest chains, and gradually unlock and expand the academy in the city as part of the main questline. Additional tasks can be taken from the town’s job board.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to gradually raise the price as new content and features are released.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is an important part of the development process. Feedback, bug reports, and suggestions from gameplay are used as guidance in my work and help me evaluate priorities.

I follow discussions on the Steam forums, read comments, and use player feedback as a basis for assessing existing systems, evaluating issues, and considering potential new content. Since I am developing the game on my own, exchange with active players is especially valuable.”

Automation is a core part of Fields of Fortune,
but it’s introduced gradually and in a playful way.

You start with simple processes and learn step by step:

  • Conveyor belts for automatic transport

  • Splitters for precise distribution

  • Machines to process your resources

Many systems are unlocked and explained through quests, directly in the game.

Your little harvest bot takes care of the work:

  • cuts down trees

  • plants new saplings

  • automatically transports logs onward

Via conveyor belts, the logs are delivered straight to the sawmill, where they are processed into lumber fully automatically.

As you progress through the game, you unlock the Academy. Here you can gradually learn all four disciplines:

Each specialization unlocks new buildings, recipes, and possibilities.
Within each discipline, however, you make conscious talent choices, allowing you to shape your playstyle individually without missing out on content.

You start small, with a few tools and a big idea. You freely place fields and buildings, developing your land piece by piece, by hand or through automation.
