What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Hunter's Hand is a systems game, and systems games get better when players break them.

Early Access lets me build the rest of the game with the people who'll actually play
it — balancing cards against real run data instead of my own habits, and expanding
content in the directions players push hardest. The core loop is finished and I'm
confident in it. What comes next is depth, and depth is better designed in public.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Around 2-3 months.

That assumes the roadmap below lands on schedule. If it takes longer to get right, it
takes longer - I'd rather ship a finished 1.0 late than a thin one on time. I'll post
progress against the roadmap regularly so you can hold me to it.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The 1.0 version deepens what's already here rather than bolting on the basics:

- A larger artefact pool and deeper cross-class relic and subclass synergies
- Expanded meta-progression and unlock paths between runs
- Higher difficulty modes, daily runs and leaderboards
- A final art, animation and sound polish pass across the whole game
- Additional Ancients and encounters
- Additional languages

The goal is more depth and variety without losing the balance and pacing that make the current build work.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Playable start to finish, and balanced for it.

- Three playable characters, each with their own card pool, subclasses and mechanics
- 274 cards and 54 relics with established synergies
- Three biomes, hand-crafted encounters, and their Ancients — including The Black Goat
- 53 enemies with variations and deep status interactions
- Procedural maps, battlefield hazards, and the full Threat system

You can complete runs, win, lose, and build meaningfully different decks doing it.
What Early Access adds is more depth — more synergies, more progression, more polish — not the parts that make it work.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The Early Access price reflects the current scope, and will rise in steps as
systems and content are added. Buying in Early Access is the cheapest the game will
be, and you get every update at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Directly. I'm one person, so you're talking to the developer.

- The Hunter's Hand Discord is where bugs get reported, ideas get argued about, and
feature polls get run
- Card design contests, with winning designs implemented in the game
- Balance discussion on the Steam forums and in my devlog comments
- Lore and worldbuilding feedback shapes the clue and narrative content

I post behind-the-scenes updates regularly, reply to suggestions myself, and
prioritise what players ask for most.”

About This Game

You are a hunter. The Ancients are waking. Every clue you find brings you closer to killing one - and closer to it noticing you.

HUNTER'S HAND is a turn-based tactical roguelike deckbuilder set in a dark fantasy

world coming apart at the seams.

THE THREAT SYSTEM

Clues make you stronger. Clues also raise Threat.

Threat is the world's awareness of you. It escalates encounters, changes what the map offers, and decides when the Ancient stops waiting. Push deep and you'll meet it with a deck that can win - or you'll meet it three rooms too early. Every run is a negotiation with that meter. There is no safe route, only a chosen one.

TACTICAL COMBAT

Every action matters. Sequence is everything.

Combat is built around deliberate, combo-driven turns where the order you play your cards decides whether you live. Chain abilities, bank defence, spend resources you can't get back, and adapt when an encounter turns out to be something else. The Oathwrought's Stance system rewards you for alternating attack and defence - time it right and you reach Exalted, and everything hits twice as hard.

DYNAMIC DECKBUILDING

Build your deck inside the run from 274 cards and 54 Artefacts.

Card rewards, Artefacts synergies and subclass choices compound into strategies you didn't plan for. A Artefact picked up in the first ten minutes can change what the whole rest of the run is about.

BRANCHING EXPLORATION

Travel procedurally generated maps where every path is a trade.

Fights, events, camps, and encounters that don't announce themselves. Route for cards, route for healing, or route for clues and accept what that wakes.

A WORLD THAT FIGHTS BACK

Battlefield hazards turn the environment against you... dense fog, eldritch rain that strips a card from your hand each turn, hailstorms, corrupted ground that poisons your healing. Three hand-painted biomes, each corrupted in its own way, each with its own enemies and its own Ancient waiting at the end.
