About This Game

Crystalcaller is a 2D wave-survival roguelite seen from the side. There is no auto-attack: you aim every spell yourself — with the mouse or the right stick — while trolls, werewolves, tree spiders and frost wraiths close in.

Five elements, ten reactions

Every elemental hit leaves a mark. Hit it with a second element and it reacts: fire and lightning overload into an explosion, water and ice freeze enemies solid, earth and water drag them into a mire. Ten reactions, each with its own name — your spellbook records every one you discover. The ground matters too: puddles conduct lightning, ice turns the floor slick, earth melts into lava.

A spellbook that grows with you

Every element starts with a basic spell that costs nothing and marks your targets. Beyond it waits a page of power spells, each one unlike the others: leap through the air and leave a trail of embers, summon a phoenix, call down a meteor, send a wave rolling across the ground or drown the field in a deluge. Pair each spell with a partner element that shapes how it works — and uncover the master combos hidden between them.

You learn new spells for good by reaching milestones. In each run, you buy them with souls at the temple.

Mana for playing well, not for spamming

Your basic spells are free. Mana comes from reactions, combo hits and kills — and it fuels your power spells and the Elemental Burst, a ring of raw element that marks every enemy around you.

Every wave a decision

After each wave, pick a bonus — or a rune that changes how a spell behaves: bouncing waterballs, rolling boulders, a fan of icicles. Skilful kills drop ingredients, and every biome hides more to gather. Brew them into potions at the temple cauldron — some to drink, some to throw. When you fall, crystal shards carry over into permanent upgrades for your next run.

Four biomes, three bosses

Hand-built waves lead you from the meadow and the forest into the mountains and the ice fields, each with its own scenery and a day that slowly turns to night. When a biome is cleared, a world portal opens onto the next one. Step through, take a look around and start the next wave at the crystal when you are ready.

Over 20 enemy types with their own attacks, elites, thunderstorms, falling rocks, blizzards and blood moons stand in your way — and three bosses: Mossgrip, Grumbar and the Frost King. After that, endless mode.
