What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early access seems like the best opportunity to gain feedback as the game progresses through development whilst offering players insight into this process and allowing the chance for collaboration in the projects development and direction.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The goal is to release in Early Access for around a year however this may be longer depending on the overall state the project is in at this time. Should any major issues arise or the scope of this project increase by this time then an extension to the Early Access period may be made in order to ensure the full release quality is the best it can be.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add more enemies, puzzles and potential new game mode variations.
There are also plans for a wider variety of possible level chunks/biomes that can be generated at runtime. The plan is to increase the amount of overall content in order to increase replay value. Planning is currently underway for a campaign/story mode that include single player or co-operative play.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the early access version features a single map that consists of a 9x9 grid of procedurally generated level chunks. There are currently 8 level chunk variations/biome types that can spawn in the level, each that handles its own placement of structures etc.

There are also currently 4 different enemy types in the game with full animations and ai state trees and specific biomes they are allowed to spawn in. More enemies are planned.

There is currently only 1 puzzle fully operational however there are more currently underway and planned

The current state of the player UI map is that it is operational and will update the chunk type and player location as you explore.

Note and inspection system is currently in the game and operational however not many instances in current playable level.

Full inventory and hotbar system operational with drag and drop capabilities even between inventories

Health and sanity systems implemented however they currently do not apply any debuffs as planned for future update.

SYstem in place allowing the player to deliver the artifact fragments to the tanks in the center chunk lab and activate the machine to open the portal and escape.

has a full game loop and a small selection of level chunks/biomes that can be loaded in each with their own puzzles and challenges to face.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The plan is to gradually raise the price as more content and are released. Final price increase will be on release where it will remain at a set price unless on sale”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“There will be feedback and bug report forms referenced in the main menu of the game, these will be used to make changes where required. There would also be potential for events and Q&A sessions periodically to better enable me to monitor customer satisfaction with this project”

About This Game

Current State of The Game

Left Behind mode currently available and playable in single player with a multiplayer build currently in production

There are currently 4 enemy types implemented in their basic format of being able to see the player, chase, attack and a prototype search function if they lose line of sight. There are future plans to expand the enemies to give them unique properties and counters/weaknesses.

Prototype crafting, building and survival systems are currently available to use however these systems are all subject to change as development continues

Basic form of the health system detailed below is currently functional however there are several key changes to come.

Sanity system detailed below is currently integrated in very basic form however there a several large scale changes and improvements to come.

Multiplayer is currently disable due to issues with finding servers at this moment in time however the team is hard at work in rectifying this matchmaking issue in order to reintroduce this to the project and allow players to play the currently available modes together.

Planned features and content

There will be four main game modes included within the project at full release with staggered releases of content throughout the early access period. The four modes are story mode/campaign, left behind/stranded mode, requisition mode and tactical operations mode.

Story Mode - Story mode will feature a full campaign split into several acts that can be played solo or with up to 6 players in co-op with plans to scale difficulty based on player count and tweaks to be made to puzzles through to factor in more players and deepen immersion.

Left Behind/Stranded Mode - This is the survival mode in which you play as an operative left to fend for yourself in the other dimension, with no extraction available and only your wits you must scavenge and craft whilst maintaining your base as you explore and search for a way home. This is a closed experience that may add some context or lore to the story/world with its own story. This mode will feature enhanced survival features compared to the other modes such as base building and more player stats such as hunger, thirst and temperature

Requisition Mode - This mode tasks players with exploring a large procedurally generated map looking for the precious crystals and their power, the players will be given a quota to reach and once they have fulfilled the quota they may leave. There are plans to add player progression that allow players to customise the loadout they take into this mode. Any surplus crystals will give players bonuses and extra cash to then spend on upgrading their gear and or character. The map for this mode is generated from a series of pre made grid squares, these level chunks define what kind of zone spawns and then handle the generation and placement of all objects, entities and puzzles when the map is loaded to ensure variance throughout the map if multiple zones of the same type spawn.

Tactical Operations Mode - This mode will feature a catalogue of different missions and modes that will score the player based how they perform and if all objectives are completed. These missions will run in parallel to the story mode offering further insight into certain events with the campaign whilst also offering some completely separate experiences and stories for the player to explore

Play alone or as a team

Players are given the option of completing the game in single player or teaming up with other players from around the world to tackle the challenges within.

Procedurally generated map

In Depth Health System

Health is divided into several states each with corresponding debuffs that are applied dynamically and emphasise the importance of managing resources and staying healthy

Sanity System

Staying physically healthy is not the only worry when traversing the game world, the sanity system works similarly to the health system but the lower your sanity becomes the more at risk you become, featuring auditory/visual hallucinations and more

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Mature content would consist of violence via the player being attacked by or attacking enemies. Some drug use will be present in relation to the player using healing items or pharmaceuticals such as injections or pills.
