In a time when the world was still wild and full of magic, there lived a Witch...

She lived a calm and peaceful life, in harmony with all creatures and humans. Until one pristine autumn day, when the Witches of Khemia gathered to celebrate their annual Harvest Festival! Over many days, the witches had prepared a joyful feast from sacred recipes passed on through countless generations. The tables groaned under the weight of the myriad of baked delights, while laughter and sweet smells filled the gentle air. When suddenly, a foul stench swept over the land. In an instant, every loaf, every pie and every piece of pastry began to rot. Vermin arose in endless swarms, and a nameless plague began to consume all living things…

In Rise of the Spellbaker, a charming hand-crafted, fairy-tale inspired Action-Adventure, our Witch seemingly finds herself to be the sole survivor of an unknown plague. With no-one but your loyal Cat Familiar by your side, set forth into the corrupted land. Fight back the insatiable Rot by awakening the powerful magic of spellbaking from forgotten recipes and uncover the hidden hand that pulling the strings behind this foul fate.

• The Rise of the Spellbaker: Guide the Witch on her journey to save Khemia from a grim and all-consuming plague in this hand-crafted Action-Adventure drawing you into a powerful story in a world full of magic, fairy tales and smells from freshly baked goods.

• The Rot: Experience a world being devoured by a plague covering the land and choking (almost) every living creature, turning a home that once was light, sweet and colourful into a dark, fetid and dismal place infested with dangerous creatures like the Skullopod or the Big Mouth – all overshadowed by an unfathomable presence looming in the background.

• The Witch: Rediscover and develop your forgotten magic talent – spellbaking – to reclaim your world from the Rot and the evil mastermind pulling the strings. Discover new recipes, gather ingredients and knead them into powerful pastries like the Crescent Wave or the Shortcrust Grenade to roast your enemies.

• The Companions: Along the way, you’ll discover that this new world hides more than meets the eye. Fortunately, you are not alone: Hermann, the talking sourdough, the floury little Biscies, and your loyal cat familiar will help you face the challenges ahead.

• The Village: Furnish and decorate the witch’s house and turn your village back into a safe haven you can return to during your adventures. Feed Hermann to spur his memory and thus gain more knowledge about recipes and discover his connection to your home – and, perhaps, the keys to defeating the plague.

• The Coven: In Multiplayer, gather with up to five other surviving witches to divide the tasks between your group and work together to defeat the Rot.
