Open Fortress is a fully custom mod that builds on Team Fortress 2’s world-famous gunplay to create a smooth, stylish experience inspired by old-school FPS games. The Open Fortress experience is lovingly hand-crafted to ensure the best possible vibes, remaining true to the essence of TF2’s mid-century aesthetic while taking earnest inspiration from seventies action flicks. Featuring all new maps, all new guns, and an original soundtrack inspired by the funky tunes of the era.

Set several years after the Gravel War, Open Fortress envisions a new age in the Team Fortress universe. In the futuristic world of 1979, the heart of mercenary gunfighting has shifted from covert war in the Badlands of New Mexico to a worldwide free-for-all! Battle it out on a level playing field to seize weapons, power-ups, and a place on the podium from your foes!

Play as the Mercenary: expert wisecracker, professional action hero, and master of every weapon known to Merc-kind. No need for class selection, because he’s always classy, and always the man for the job. Master the Merc’s incredible potential to gain the upper hand on your strangely handsome rivals!

Help Merc make his mark on the battlefield! Choose from dozens of cosmetic options to be the most stylish Mercenary around, and outdress your foes while you outplay them. Customize your outfit using newfangled technology unique to Open Fortress: an ‘adjustable color slider’! The best part? It’s all free!

Solve problems with violence!

Master an all-new arsenal of fancy weapons and familiar power-ups to triumph in varied game modes! Steal briefcases, capture flags, and murder mercenaries en masse!
