About This Demo

Welcome to the Hungry Horrors Demo

This is an early look at Hungry Horrors, a culinary roguelite deckbuilder where you feed monsters instead of fighting them. The demo includes the full tutorial, the first two biomes, six unique Horrors, a small set of cards and artefacts, and the flavour combo system at the heart of the game.

It is still in active development. We have already released several updates to this demo and plan to keep improving it based on player feedback. Expect more content, balance changes, and quality of life updates over time.

WHAT'S IN THE DEMO?

  • A full tutorial to get you cooking

  • Two biomes with eight unique Horrors drawn from British and Irish folklore

  • A selection of traditional dish cards, artefacts, and event rooms

  • The full flavour craving system, with strategic combos and feeding mechanics

  • Hand-pixelled animations with fatality-style reactions from each Horror

  • A bespoke soundtrack blending eerie whimsy and fantasy themes

About the Game

You play as a princess travelling through a kingdom ruined by hunger. At every stop, you prepare dishes drawn from British and Irish cuisine and serve them to legendary Horrors before their appetite gets out of control.

Each turn, you play one dish from your deck. Every Horror has its own likes and dislikes. Match flavour cravings to trigger combos, gain bonuses, and keep yourself alive long enough to reach the dragon that waits at the end.

What makes it different?

There is no combat. Just cuisine. Hungry Horrors is a game about cooking, feeding, and strategic planning. Instead of weapons or spells, your cards are traditional dishes. Instead of enemies, you face Horrors from folklore with very specific tastes. Victory comes not from damage, but from satisfying hunger.

Why try it now?

Because your feedback helps shape the game.

Hungry Horrors is made by a two-person team. We are building it in the open and rely on players to help us improve. If you have thoughts, bug reports, or suggestions, please use the in-game form or join the Steam discussions.

If you enjoy the demo, wishlist the game and follow us to get updates as we release new content.

Thanks for playing. We hope you’re hungry.
