What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I've spent the past two years working on Hex Town to make an interesting, beautiful, and polished multiplayer puzzle game. For the home stretch, I decided to make it available to players who want to be first in line, have their feedback prioritized, and who don't mind running into a bug or placeholder here and there.

I have worked diligently and spent thousands of hours testing, balancing, and beautifying Hex Town. You won't be buying a half-baked prototype, but a full game that could benefit from your kindness and leniency as I patch issues and tweak content.

I don't take this decision lightly, and I am 100% committed to using Early Access in a way that respects your valuable time and trust. Thank you!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I want to release Hex Town ASAP! My plan is to stay in Early Access for 1-3 months based on player feedback, and to fully release before the end of 2026.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Hex Town will look and feel very similar to the Early Access version. The most noticeable changes will likely come from me tweaking level content, adding sounds and visual effects, improving tutorials, and making sure multiplayer runs smoothly.

In the full version, I also plan to add more cosmetic content. Namely, more options for hand cursors, environment details, tile visuals, and lots of new challenges, rewards and unlockables.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version is working great and is ready to play! I treat every update as a major release that brings meaningful changes and improvements.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Absolutely. You're signing up to be one of the first players of Hex Town, so it's only fair that you get it at a discounted price. Naturally, the fully-released version will bump up to a price more in line with similar games of this genre.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I genuinely read every bit of feedback and use it to make Hex Town better! There's several improvements that have already been added thanks to player input.

I absolutely love reading about your experience, good or bad! In fact, there's a feedback window that you can open in-game to send feedback directly to my inbox.

There's also a thumbs up/thumbs down button at the end of each level that you can use if you don't have time to send a full message.

You can also jump in the Discord or email me if you prefer.

My goal is to stay true to the spirit of Hex Town while making improvements and adjustments that bring the most joy.

About This Game

Hex Town is a cozy game about placing tiles and merging them to grow charming little towns. Draw a tile, find its spot, and watch your town take shape. Play on your own for a quiet, contemplative puzzle, or build together with up to three friends.

The heart of Hex Town is merging, and every tile has a category and a tier. Place three tiles of the same category in the right shape and they merge into a single tile one tier higher. Chain those merges to climb tier by tier and grow your town as you go.

The five tile merge patterns. Joy, House, Farm, Craft, and Culture.

Each category merges in its own pattern, and there are five to learn. Thinking ahead and setting up big merges is where the puzzle lives.

Every level adds a small checklist of tasks to complete for Bronze, Silver or Gold rewards. You can never lose progress along the way. If a placement does not work out, grab the pickaxe to return a tile to your hand, or restart instantly to chase a perfect run.

  • Merge up the tiers. Combine three matching tiles into one of a higher tier and grow your town as you go.

  • Five merge patterns to master. Lines, triangles, bends, wedges and ringed shapes each ask you to read the board differently.

  • Co-op for up to four players. Levels built to be enjoyed together.

  • A 3-Star system. Earn a Bronze, Silver or Gold star on every level based on your solution, with rewards to match.

  • No way to fail. Remove and replace tiles freely, or quick-restart for a flawless run.

  • Rewards everywhere. Unlock new weather, times of day, creatures, hand decorations, and upgrades that feed back into your personal town.

  • Handcrafted papercraft UI and a procedural soundtrack that is different every session.

  • Four ways to play. A Tutorial that teaches as you go, Endless 'Hexpeditions', Hidden Objects to hunt, and Your Town to build creatively.

  • Controller and Steam Deck ready, tuned for cozy evenings on the couch.
