What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We see Early Access as an amazing opportunity to make our vision for the game come to life in collaboration with our players' wishes and ideas. As a small studio of four our community has been an integral part to developing the game so far and we think Early Access has a lot of potential to get our players even more involved. ”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We foresee the Early Access phase to last around four months. ”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have more content and possibly features than the Early Access version. In our case this means more cards, entities to cleanse and transmuters to transform your run. We also hope to provide players with additional features like controller support if possible. We plan to add additional localisation as well. We plan to release parts of this during Early Access updates to gauge player reactions and feedback but plan to release the full extent of content/features on full release. ”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version includes a tutorial, the first entity on three different difficulties as well as the second entity on all three difficulties. This means 76 unique cards, 8 transmuters, 11 villagers and 100+ story snippets giving a deeper glimpse into the world of BLOODLETTER. The playtime when playtesting ourselves has been around 10 hours to play through the whole progression. The game is localised in seven languages. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We are unsure of this but could imagine increasing the price for the full release because of the amount of new content and features. We also believe this could be a good way to reward players who have supported us since Early Access. ”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are planning on engaging actively with our community in the Steam community hub as well as discord to get a good overview of what players currently think of the state of the game. We will ask for feedback on specific parts of the game to involve players in our development and listen to their wishes and preferences. ”

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Bloodletter is a game heavily inspired by the healing methods of the medieval times. Thus a lot of the cards illustrations and overaching themes within the game are tied to this and showcase an overall dark atmosphere. Cruelties of the times that were regarded as healing methods like for example bloodletting and trepanation can be found on the cards, in the opening cinematic and in some UI illustrations.
