What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Mistaken is being developed by a solo developer, and Early Access allows the game to continue growing alongside the community that has already helped shape it throughout the demo period.

Player feedback, suggestions, balance discussions, and bug reports have already played a major role in improving the game, and community involvement will continue to influence development moving forward.

Early Access also helps support the continued development of Mistaken, allowing for the creation of new content, systems, polish, and long-term improvements as the game expands over time.

As Mistaken is still actively in development, players should expect bugs, balance adjustments, content changes, and ongoing iteration throughout Early Access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The current plan is for Mistaken to remain in Early Access until the core vision of the game has been fully realized and polished.

As a solo-developed project focused heavily on progression systems, content variety, balance, and replayability, development timelines may evolve over time depending on feedback and the scope of future updates.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Mistaken is planned to significantly expand upon the foundations established during Early Access.

Planned additions include:

- new world tiers and regions,
- additional enemies and bosses,
- more Origins and build paths,
- expanded Cartifact systems and synergies,
- additional weapons, armor, crafting content, and structures,
- more NPCs and settlement progression,
- further balancing, polish, optimization, and overall content variety.

The goal throughout Early Access is to continue expanding replayability, progression depth, and build experimentation while refining the overall experience based on community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Mistaken already contains a substantial amount of playable content and core systems.

Players can currently explore dangerous regions, gather resources, build and expand settlements, fight bosses and enemies, create powerful builds through randomized equipment and Cartifacts, and progress through multiple gameplay systems centered around exploration, combat, crafting, and progression.

While the core gameplay experience is already fully playable and actively polished, additional content, balancing, optimization, and features are planned throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes.

Mistaken is planned to be available at a lower price during Early Access. The price is expected to increase once the game reaches full release and contains additional content, systems, and polish.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback plays an important role in the development of Mistaken.

Player suggestions, balance discussions, bug reports, and general feedback have already helped shape the game throughout the demo period and will continue to influence development during Early Access.

Players will be able to share feedback, discuss builds and strategies, report issues, and engage with the community through Discord, Steam discussions, and future development updates as Mistaken continues to grow.”

About This Game

A world consumed by mist and affliction.

Humanity is gone, and hope for its return grows fainter by the day.

Fight, build, and push deeper into the ruins of a world that refuses to die quietly.

Mistaken is a dark fantasy survival RPG centered around satisfying progression, powerful build creation, and expanding a refuge in a world that has already fallen.

Fight your way through dangerous realms, gather rare resources, defeat horrific creatures, and descend deeper into the mist in search of stronger gear, new crafting options, and devastating character builds.

Despite its bleak world, Mistaken blends moody dark fantasy with charm, rewarding exploration, and addictive progression systems designed to constantly give the player new goals to chase.

Explore, Fight, Progress

The gameplay loop in Mistaken is simple, satisfying, and difficult to put down:

Explore → Gather → Fight → Upgrade → Expand → Descend Further

Each journey into the mist offers stronger enemies, rarer materials, hidden structures, dangerous bosses, and new opportunities to push your build even further.

The deeper you go, the stranger and deadlier the world becomes.

Create Powerful Builds

Progression in Mistaken is all about experimentation and growth.

Weapons, armor, and equipment roll with randomized attributes and affixes, allowing even ordinary gear to become something powerful in the right build. Shape your character around different combat styles, strategies, and synergies as you steadily become stronger with each expedition.

Choose an Origin that defines the strengths and weaknesses of your character.

Lean fully into devastating magic, specialize in ranged combat, become a brutal frontline fighter, or choose the path of a nomad, free to experiment and adapt without a predefined direction.

Each Origin opens the door to different builds, strategies, and progression paths, with many more planned throughout Early Access.

Collect Cartifacts

Cartifacts are mysterious magical cards that can be equipped to fundamentally change how your build functions.

Each Cartifact grants unique combat effects that can synergize with one another in powerful ways, opening the door for countless strategies and combinations.

Why not equip one Cartifact that causes melee attacks to poison enemies, then combine it with another that increases critical strike chance against poisoned targets?

The deeper you progress, the more possibilities become available.

Build and Expand Your Settlement

Your base is more than just decoration. It is a core part of progression.

Gather resources to build shelters, crafting stations, farms, storage, defenses, and homes for wandering survivors. As your settlement grows, new crafting options, beneficial NPCs, sustainable food production, and progression opportunities become available.

Start with a small refuge and slowly transform it into a thriving stronghold standing against the mist.
