Why Early Access?

“Parthas is a large project being developed by two college students who have limited schedules. Early access allows us to get feedback while development is ongoing to ensure that any pointedly important design modifications can be made early. Making these changes early means future work is far more efficient. This fosters a healthier development pipeline that allows content to be created with less spaghetti-code related difficulties.

What this means for the player is a better optimized game that can be fixed more swiftly.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect to remain in early access for approximately two years. This may be extended if complications with development arise during that time.

This time will be spent finishing the core experience and campaign first, then branching out into some optional content for players looking for more puzzles, loot chase, and multiplayer shenanigans. ”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Most of the core features of the game will be present and functional at the beginning of early access. The most noticeable differences to the player between now and full release will be the completion and availability of further zones, story elements, and items. Multiplayer will be disabled in the early stages, though this is a priority for us to get working. There are many built in interactions between player abilities and characters that we want to make available, but more bug fixing is required before the audience can experience them.

Each area will contain many hidden delights, not all of which will be ready before the beginning of early access. As time progresses more and more of these will be introduced as they are developed. ”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Early access will contain the first several playable zones and much of the story content planned for those zones.

Some secrets or bonus curiousities may be added to the current playable zones at a later time. The playable zones will be considered functionally complete, though possibily lacking optional adventures, before being released. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We are planning to increase the price slightly as new content ships.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As avid gamers ourselves, we will be monitoring community thoughts through content creator communities and the Steam Forums.

For the moment if anyone wishes to make suggestions directly they may do so via the Steam Forums, which we will monitor closely.

A community focused discord server is in the works, as well as a help email where suggestions are welcome. These details will be forthcoming. ”
