Why Early Access?

“The nature of this game is an ever evolving sandbox, so even after full release, the game will continue to be updated with new features and refinements on existing features. However we have decided to initially release as Early Access because there are still some key features not yet complete, like multiplayer, and we want to get the game out to the community as soon as possible, without the community having to wait for this to be completed.”

“1 year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Multiplayer will be developed while the game is in Early Access. Along with achievements, trading cards, badges and all other community content. We will also convert the remaining old GUI screens to the new GUI.

In Early Access we intend to fix bugs and release frequent patches as bugs are fixed. We will also refine existing features and add a small amount of new content including cloud based storage.

We will also expand the Modding interface during Early Access, based on modder feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Reasonably stable single player game, ported to PC from the Xbox 360 version. There are several bugs as a result of the port from Xbox, and several features that do not work 100% correctly, so the game may crash on occasion. But in general players should enjoy a reasonably problem free gaming experience.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Currently there are no plans to change the price when we leave Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We hope to involve the community in development of trading cards, badges, achievements and new features in the game itself. We have always valued community participation in the development of Total Miner from it's humble beginnings over 6 years ago. Many features in the present game are a direct result of community ideas and feedback. This will continue.

Multiplayer development

Multiplayer development will now start.

There will be some small updates for other fixes and improvements while multiplayer is being worked on, but most effort now will go towards getting multiplayer ready for release.

See here for a modded multiplayer solution in the interim. This mod provides a replacement for the Xbox Live servers and leverages the games existing multiplayer code for Xbox. Note all new PC features are not yet supported, and some features which I've changed during the PC port also will not work properly. But basic multiplayer hosting and building is possible.

About This Game

Total Miner is an open world voxel sandbox game. It is primarily designed for creative RPG game builders, but also has two action/adventure style game modes where you can just jump in and play.

Please note: The above trailer references Xbox 360 multiplayer. Multiplayer will not be in the initial Steam PC release, it will be part of the Early Access development.

Main Game Features:

Creative Tools: Fill and Clear large areas in one operation. Replace blocks or textures over large areas quickly. Have the game build lines, paths, walls, sphere's and forests for you. Flood large irregular spaces with any block using the painters algorithm. Copy and paste parts of your world or save parts as components for use later or in another world.

41 Full length Music Tracks - Over 3.5 hours of music.
25 different Texture Packs built into the game, both SD (16x16) and HD (64x64).
74 inbuilt Avatars and NPCs models. Fully customizable behaviour and dialog trees for NPCs.
234 unique Blocks.
338 unique Items.
410 Items or Blocks can be Crafted, Smelted, Smithed or Cooked.

Built in Script language and editor with full help documentation and examples: Automate manual tasks, create quests, mini games, boss fights, almost anything you can imagine with this powerful scripting tool. Can also be used by the NPC behaviour and dialog trees.

Zones: Wrap zones around areas of your world to protect them or set custom properties.
Permissions: A powerful set of player permissions to control who can do what and where.

Player Skills (Optional): 16 different player skills. Gain XP by doing activities. Raise your skills to gain access to better items.

Particle Emitters: Create animated effects using 3D particles.
WIFI Power: Create powered logic circuits using WIFI.
Farming: Sow your crops and reap their harvest. Use the harvest to cook better food.
Day/Night/Season cycle, wind animated flora and animated liquid physics for water and lava.
Take photos of your creations with the Camera item and store them in your album.

Shops: Players can trade any item and block using gold pieces as currency.
Economized Shops: Make a shop your own. Stock it and customize prices.
Dual Wielding: Wield items in one hand or two, you choose.

Rock layers: There are 14 layers of different rock as you go deeper underground. Each layer is made of harder rock and requires better tools to mine.

Mod Support. The game provides a simple XML interface for tasks like modifying default game data, items, blocks, texture packs etc. It also provides a simple C# interface for writing mods in the C# programming language. Assemblies and examples are published on our github repository.
