A long-awaited extension to WCML South finally comes to Steam!

Branching off the West Coast Main Line just north of Wolverton, the Northampton Loop runs for just under 24 miles before rejoining near Rugby. It routinely carries freight, selected express services, and many stopping trains to and from Birmingham and London.

Of the five stations historically on the Loop, two remain in use today: Long Buckby and Northampton. Kilsby & Crick, Althorp Park, and Church Brampton closed during the 20th century.

Immediately north of Northampton station sits Kings Heath Depot, the primary maintenance base for the Class 350 fleet operated under the West Midlands franchise. The site has also supported other EMUs over the years, including Classes 319 and 360.

This product recreates the Northampton Loop in detail as an add-on to the main trunk route, West Coast Main Line South—extending the experience with approximately 24 miles of additional main line, services, and operational variety.
