Why Early Access?

“To ensure the quality of my product, I want to actively work with the community to first make sure there aren't any technical issues. While I have done some testing on different systems, testing it in an early access environment allows me to ensure every player can run this.

Secondly, I want to take this time to collect feedback from players regarding gameplay and user interaction. Doing so ensures I can launch the game with the quality it deserves.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will stay in a state of early access for about 3 weeks after launch. As I am currently dedicating most of my time trying to resolve any bugs or performance problems as fast as possible. The remaining time will be used to process feedback on gameplay and user interaction.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version of the game, I am planning to add:

-More content: Additional VR worlds with unique visuals and puzzles.

-Polish: Enhanced visual effects, animations, and sound design to enrich the overall experience.

-New Features: I plan to include a ‘meditation mode’ where players can enjoy the worlds without puzzles.

-Optimization: Further performance improvements to ensure a smooth VR experience on a variety of hardware.
Based on player feedback, I may also explore additional puzzles or alternate ways to interact with the environments."”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of the game includes:

-5 fully playable VR worlds with unique puzzles and visual feedback systems.

-A complete progression system where solving puzzles leads to animations and transitions between worlds.

-Full visual and audio design for the current levels.

-A core gameplay loop where players discover hand positions to progress.
The game is stable, polished, and offers a complete experience for these worlds. Future updates will expand on this foundation with additional content and improvements.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will remain free during early access, after which we plan to gradually raise the price as we ship new environments and gameplay features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is incredibly important to the success of this project. I will actively gather player feedback to improve puzzle mechanics, visuals, and the overall experience. Here’s how I plan to involve the community:

-Feedback and Suggestions: Players can share their thoughts via Steam discussions, where I’ll look for ideas to improve puzzles or add new features.

-Player Testing: I’ll monitor feedback on level difficulty and adjust puzzles accordingly.
Bug Reports: If any issues arise, I encourage players to report them through the Steam forums. I’ll prioritize fixing these in regular updates.

-I plan to release periodic updates based on this feedback, so the game evolves with the community’s input”

About This Game

The Pressure of Ambition is a series of interactive VR artworks that change form to the movement of the user. Each oppressive monolithic artwork forces you to find the position it wants you to be in, by making you pay close attention to the form that the artwork takes.

Control with your body

The oppressive nature of the sculptures will force you to find a position in which everything in balance. Use your hands to move around the room, and find the perfect position the sculpture wants you to be in. To ensure that people with motion sickness can also enjoy, no in-game locomotion is used.

The story

The Pressure of Ambition is a series of interactive VR artworks that change form to the movement of the user. Each oppressive monolithic artwork forces you to find the position it wants you to be in, by making you pay close attention to the form that the artwork takes.

Being an industrial designer, I often had to put an intense amount of effort in researching how certain designs were percieved by others. The higher I climbed, the greater the pressure. When that pressure eventually led to a burn-out, I decided to express my feelings through this game.

The journey I made from losing control to (almost) total recovery thus gave way to the 6 stages of thought loops I get stuck in. Each sculpture is also paired with a small thought that always kept repeating itself over and over.

I really hope these sculptures allow you to feel the feelings I did, and even if you think these are just the vague animations of a madman, feel free to share your opinion!

Accessibility

The game features no colour-coded ui, and can both be played while standing, or from a seated mode to ensure less mobile players have a chance to experience these worlds.

Each transition between worlds includes part of a poem. The goal is to translate this to as many languages as possible. Are you really missing yours? Feel free me know!
