Why Early Access?

“I'm a solo developer, and a game like this lives or dies on how well the mechanics hold up once real players get their hands on them. Early Access lets me release a playable core of Shitbox Together now, see how people actually drive, break, and fix their cars, and use that feedback to guide what I build next. I want the community involved early, since co-op and open-world sandbox games depend heavily on player creativity and edge cases I can't fully predict on my own.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I plan to be in Early Access for approximately 1-2 years, though this could shift depending on community feedback and the scope of features I add along the way.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“At launch, the Early Access version includes the core features: an open world to explore, a working car with modular parts and realistic wear, jobs to earn money, bills to pay, and both solo and co-op play. I plan to expand the world with more locations, add more jobs and ways to earn money, deepen the car mechanics with more systems and failure states, add more parts and tools, and improve co-op features based on how players actually play together. I also plan to keep refining performance, polish, and quality of life throughout development.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is playable from start to finish, with a functional open world, working car mechanics (parts, fluids, wear and breakdowns), a jobs and money system, and solo and co-op support. Some areas of the world are more built out than others, and some systems are still being balanced and expanded. Players should expect bugs, missing polish, and features that are still being iterated on, since I'm developing this on my own.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to raise the price when the game leaves Early Access and reaches full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan to actively engage with players through Steam discussions and my Discord, where I'll share updates and gather feedback throughout development. Community input will directly shape which features, parts, jobs, and world areas I prioritize next.”
