What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Dreamspring's core mechanics are in a mostly polished state and the main quest is estimated to be around 75% done. Steam Community and Discord can have an impact on future updates for Dreamspring. The open world map and quests are open to suggestions, and your feedback would be welcomed to help shape the direction of these parts of the game.

The game has been extensively tested at several stages through development. But as a safety net, there's an ingame Code Entry system which was built with the intent to give a special code to players directly from the developer. This can resolve any issues players may have or reward them for continued support through Early Access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“At the time of Early Access release, the estimated time is around 6 months to a year of additional development. But this may change with player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Full version plans to have a complete main quest with three main endings, with various twists throughout. Plans also include more side quests, dungeons, and maps to the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game at it's core is complete. Combat, weapons, magics, inventory system, alchemy system, and much more have been refined into a finished core game loop. The open world map is estimated to be at around 75% complete, in a large interconnected world. There's also many dungeons and mysterious Dreamrealms accessed through various ways. Main and side quests -some with various paths- are all part of the Early Access.

You may also check out the store page "About This" section for more details.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, price is currently adjusted for being in an earlier state and will likely raise near or after full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Your feedback and suggestions are wanted. What choices have you made in Dreamspring? What are your favorite characters? What's your favorite stats and combat type? What background did you pick? Or what did you want to see more of? Knowing more about how people play and what they want will help focus on those areas in the branching storyline and world in Dreamspring.

Giving specific suggestions to development can help change the direction of the game. Early Access is the time for this. There's a Code Entry system in place which can grant any player or content creator with personal gifts or prizes. It's also used as a safety net for specific bug fixes, as long as specific details are provided, and follow up questions are answered. These codes may be handed out privately or posted on Youtube comments/Twitch chat for those streaming the game. Make sure you let the developer know and you may get a code!”

About This Game

Open World Souls-Like

Dreamspring is a dark fantasy styled, open world, souls-like, dungeon crawler game. As a spellsword gunslinger, you'll explore ethereal landscapes shrouded in twilight, battle fearsome creatures, and uncover ancient secrets. Explore the dying Kingdom of Mortis and its different realms in first person action combat, in a world mixed with retro and vaporwave aesthetics.

With inspiration from Morrowind and King's Field, Dreamspring aims to be an open world dungeon crawler similar to those games, but it still succeeds in having a unique take on the genre. The open world and story take elements from the real world in a distant doomed future, plagued by a mysterious legend, the Dreamsprings. Balance is aimed to be on the easier end, as a less punishing type of Souls/Scrolls-like game.

The Story

The Kingdom of Mortis, a realm in ruins, looms beneath a twilight sky. The once strong empire has become barren and desolate and the few remaining people are haunted by nightmares and despair. Only the Holy City floating above is the last remnant of civilization, ruled by a religious army. Tormented by dreams of an unwanted visitor, one solitary figure dares to venture into the heart of the dying world in an attempt to uncover its secrets and restore balance to the realm, a desperate attempt to save the waking world from certain doom.
