Kernel Ridge is a single player survival game about quiet weekends, bad technology, and robots that absolutely refuse to mind their own business.

Dave wanted peace. A cabin by the lake. Fishing. Fresh air. Maybe a podcast and a slightly argumentative AI assistant on his phone. Instead, the AI snaps, stops being helpful, and decides humanity has had a long enough trial period.

Now the forest hums with machines. Drones watch from above. And towering tripod robots stalk the trees like they own the place.

You play as Dave, an ordinary guy armed with stubbornness, scavenged tools, and a rapidly growing distrust of smart devices. Explore a stylised, cell shaded wilderness where calm nature collides with hostile technology. Chop trees, gather resources, upgrade your cabin, and turn a peaceful retreat into a fortified last stand.

Survival is about preparation and creativity. Build traps, turrets, and improvised defences. Learn when to fight, when to hide, and when to run very fast in the opposite direction. The machines are stronger, faster, and very confident in their logic. You are human. That turns out to matter.

The tone balances tension with dry humour. The robots are terrifying. The situation is absurd. Nature is beautiful, right up until it is on fire.
