About This Demo

Run Heroes Run is based on the roguelike genre, where you assemble your team of heroes and equip them for an adventure. How does our variation of a roguelike differ from others? The first distinction is that battles occur in real-time with active pauses for more comfortable gameplay, rather than being turn-based. The build system consists of several modules:

  •  Selecting three heroes for the adventure (in the demo, we limited it to three fully developed heroes, though five more are currently in production, and seven are in the concept stage)

  •  Choosing active abilities for the heroes that the player will use in battles and level up over time.

  •  Selecting passive abilities for each hero on each level, the player can choose a passive skill for the hero that will either permanently enhance them or trigger under specific conditions automatically).

  •  Equipping heroes with artifacts that empower them until the end of the run.

  •  Collecting consumables during the run, which are divided into targeted (applied to a specific target or area chosen by the player) and mass items that affect all heroes or enemies at once.

All of these elements synergize with each other, offering almost limitless build variations, allowing you to combine and develop your hero team in different ways based on your preferred playstyle.

The Adventure

The run in our game is represented by a procedurally generated adventure map. In addition to classic battle events, resting at campfires, and meeting merchants who offer artifacts and essential survival items, you can take on quests. These quests introduce you to the game's narrative and story. They are filled with ironic references and light humor to help players relax between intense battles.

The player’s goal is to reach the end of the domain and explain to the boss that they are definitely not in charge here. To achieve this, players will need to strategically plan their path, carefully assessing where they’re ready to fight and where it might be better to rest at a campfire. And as in all roguelikes, death is not the end—it’s only the beginning of your adventure.

Bosses and Domains

In the demo, we’ve prepared the Underworld domain, where at the end, players will face a boss: the Phantom Guard—the most seasoned, bloodthirsty, and ruthless warriors to have ever fallen into Hades' realm. For the full version of the game, we are developing additional domains for Artemis, Poseidon, and Zeus. Each domain will feature its own fearsome boss, a unique set of enemies with special abilities, and players will need to devise tactics to effectively fight them. At the end of the entire adventure awaits the titan Iapetus, who seeks to summon Chaos into the world.

Base Preparation

Where one adventure ends, perhaps not so successfully, another begins. And like any good adventure, it starts with preparation. To do so, players have access to Hades' estate. It must be upgraded, and the resources obtained in the adventure can be used to research technologies that will strengthen the heroes in future runs. Or visit the merchant and buy powerful artifacts, like the *Sword of a Thousand and One Truths* or the *Shield of Lion’s Courage*. Alternatively, you can purchase potions, scrolls, and gear up for the next exciting adventure. Preparation is crucial to return stronger and push further through the story each time. A new adventure—a new run. That’s why we chose a name that speaks for itself—*Run Heroes Run*!
