About This Game

~~ Epilepsy Warning ~~

The fast speeds and repeated textures in this game cause the appearance of flashing lights. If you are prone to seizures, playing this game is a danger to your health and safety.

Thread the Void is an action/arcade game that requires a VR headset to fully experience its unique thrills. Weave in and out of neon blocks as you try to activate the 8 strips in each of the 8 action-packed tunnels. VR headset recommended but not required.

As you travel down the first tunnel, a landscape of brightly colored neon blocks slowly passes you by. You suddenly move your head too quickly, and you collide with a bright purple cross. Your vision becomes stained in red, though you see in the corner of your vision that your health is slowly returning. All hope is not lost!

The pace increases. Your head yaws and rolls in the flow of survival instinct, and you begin to think this is the run. Your score ticks up quicker and quicker. Every second, a new brush with failure. Every second, a new opportunity for greatness.

As the jovial (though sometimes melancholic) music rises, a monolith approaches with two ways through. You can either enter the dark and foreboding blackness with no sense of what lies behind, or you may enter the safe and predictable entryway. Do you choose to guard what remains of your health in the hopes of a higher score? Or do you choose to Thread the Void?

Features

  • Full VR support for Meta Quest and HTC Vive headsets.

  • A leaderboard system for comparing your top scores and lifetimes scores with others.

  • 8 levels of adrenaline-packed gameplay. Activate all 8 strips in all 8 tunnels to see the final cutscene!

  • 8 soundtracks made using tailor-made musical scales and motifs. Combined with RNG, you'll never hear the same song twice!

Accessibility is Important

  • This VR game is fully accessible for those without VR controllers, or those who cannot use VR controllers. A headset and good control of your head/neck is all you really need.

  • Other gamepad controls (XBOX, PS5+gyro, SteamDeck) are supported using Steam Input's virtual controller configuration. Simply map at least one button for [Keyboard Escape] and [Mouse Left Click], and map the joysticks to [Keyboard WASD] or [Joystick Mouse]. Example below.
