Why Early Access?

“We believe that RailGods of Hysterra has the potential to deliver a truly unique survival base-building experience, blending Lovecraftian horror, procedural exploration, and cooperative multiplayer. Early Access gives us the opportunity to refine and expand the game based on player feedback, ensuring that every journey, every sacrifice, and every decision feels impactful. By involving the community early, we plan to fine-tune the mechanics, enhance progression systems, and introduce new content that best supports the game’s vision.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We’re targeting a full release roughly in six to twelve months period, but this may change depending on development progress and player feedback. Our goal is to ensure that RailGods of Hysterra reaches its full potential before leaving Early Access. Furthermore, we are currently considering two major updates for the game during the Early Access, however, the scope and number of updates may evolve based on the player feedback and development needs.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already includes core gameplay elements such as survival mechanics, train base-building, procedural exploration, and online co-op. We are exploring ways to expand upon the foundation that Early Access provides by considering additional regions, biomes, enemies and bosses, as well as expanded RailGod customization options. Ultimately, the goal is to allow players to upgrade their Rail-bound fortress with new carriages and modifications, and receive all new Dark Gifts from the RailGod. Our goal is for the final game to include a deeper progression system that would unlock more abilities for both the Dreamer and their RailGod. After the start of the Early Access, we plan to share a roadmap that would provide transparency around our future development plans and how we handle our community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of RailGods of Hysterra includes procedurally generated locations that provide unique exploration, surviving and fighting opportunities, and players will have access to full online co-op for up to 5 players, allowing them to travel, build, and fight together. Core mechanics such as survival, crafting, and RailGod management will be in place, alongside the first major story elements and progression systems.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of the game may increase as we add new content and move toward the game’s full release. While we have set a price for Early Access, we will determine the final release pricing closer to launch. Any price adjustments will be communicated in advance, and the game may participate in discounts and seasonal sales.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback is a key pillar of our Early Access approach. We are actively monitoring discussions on our Steam Community Hub, Discord, and other platforms, ensuring that player voices are heard, and can help guide the game’s development. We also use community surveys to gather input on features, mechanics, and content priorities, helping us fine-tune the game to match player expectations. We encourage players to report bugs and share suggestions on our Steam Community Hub and Discord, as their insights are invaluable in refining mechanics, fixing issues, and ensuring a polished final experience. Our goal is to develop RailGods of Hysterra alongside the community, making it the best possible game for survival and base-building fans.

Play solo or team up with up to four friends in online co-op, working together to scavenge for supplies, craft tools and weapons, and build your ultimate fortress on rails. Expand and share your knowledge of dark arts and forgotten magic rituals, unlocking powerful GodKeeper skills as you plan your journey along the Endless Railways, face new threats together, and combine your strengths to evolve your RailGod into a force capable of challenging the Great Old Ones themselves.

Embark on a solo adventure or join forces with up to four players in a cooperative "on the rails" journey. Keep track of your health, hunger, and sanity as you collaborate to gather resources, uncover ancient knowledge, and face off against otherworldly monsters in a world dominated by the Great Old Ones.

Take control of a RailGod, a living, sentient abomination forged through forgotten, arcane rituals: a relentless, horrific fusion of beast and machine. Yet the train is your haven, where you must cleanse your fragile mind from the all-consuming Madness and nurture the symbiotic bond with this terrifying entity. As you perform dark deeds, you will be rewarded with power, evolving alongside your RailGod into an unstoppable force, ready to defy the alien Gods themselves.

Customize and upgrade your RailGod with specialized Carriages, building your mobile fortress piece by piece. Each Carriage offers strategic advantages, and player creativity will shape the train into a powerful stronghold against the horrors of Hysterra.

As a GodKeeper, increase your symbiosis with your RailGod to harness your management, exploration, and trapping skills. Confine and sacrifice Deathless enemies to receive Dark Gifts, gaining the upper hand against the eldritch creatures threatening your path to godhood. Discover the stories of other survivors, follow their paths, and gain unique perks!

Each stop you choose to explore is unique, as time and space are warped by the Great Old Ones. Journeying on the Eternal Railways brings new areas, hidden dungeons, and diverse challenges. Plan your trips ahead, or you might end up wandering madly through the lands of Hysterra.
