Why Early Access?

“Early access gives me an opportunity to release chapters of the game periodically as a solo developer while funding the project independently. It also gives me an opportunity to gain user feedback, tweak features and usability, and craft a more polished final product as I develop future parts of the game. Feedback on the release of chapters 1 and 2 will help me to shape subsequent levels based on what people would like to see more of.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Slated for 1-2 years after Early Access launch for full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of the game is planned to include a conclusion to the story and more features: new puzzle mechanics and portal types, environments (including outer space), new enemies and combat, rocket jumping and platforming. The game is planned to be at least 3 chapters long, with a goal of a total of 5 chapters.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“As of launch, Matchstick: Cosmic Flame has 2 completed story chapters and another well into development. The current features include: 3 unique portal mechanics, grappling, combat, environmental puzzles, platforming, and a range of interesting NPCs. The launch is an introduction to the world of this game, its lore, and to a lot of the games features which are planned to be added upon in the final release.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to keep the price of the game the same throughout development. ”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players can provide feedback on the steam community page or the discord. User input always helps me to craft a better product, so the more people I hear from the better!”
