About This Game

Somewhere in your computer, there is a creature nobody has met yet.

Kipple is a cosy desktop companion and creature collector for Windows. A little creature lives in a transparent, always-on-top window while you work, play or stare meaningfully at a spreadsheet. Your PC dreams its artwork locally, giving a small life its own appearance and personality.

It blinks. It reacts to a pet. It chats when you feel like company, remembers things you tell it, and counts electric sheep when it sleeps. Move it to a quiet corner, resize it, or let it take up rather more of your desk than you intended.

A familiar creature. An unexpected combination.

Meet cute animals and unusual hybrids: a Foxguin, a Bunfrog, a Rambear, or another surprising little combination. Colours, silhouettes and expressions give your collection its character. Discover elemental Kipples with fire, ice, electric and earth effects that move around your companion.

Common, Rare, Pixel, Glitch, Mythic and Legendary are six visual tiers. Pixel creatures have a crisp sprite treatment; other rarities bring their own card styles and effects. Rarity changes the look, not competitive power. There is no PvP or power leaderboard.

A little company, on your terms

  • Pet, chat with, move and resize your desktop companion.
  • Keep a collection and choose which Kipple joins you on the desktop.
  • Let Dreams crystallize through play and dreaming. New creature drops are free; their timing and availability depend on the game's progression and service rules.
  • Adjust text size and motion settings to make your companion comfortable to live with.

Your collection goes with Steam

Approved Kipples become persistent Steam inventory items, with animated creature artwork in supported Steam inventory views. Equipping a Kipple does not consume it: owning the item is owning the creature.

Keep your favourites or list eligible Kipples on the Steam Community Market. When one is sold, that creature moves to its new owner. Kipples use the Market rather than direct trades or gifting. Market access, holds and eligibility follow Steam's rules; availability and sale value are not guaranteed.

As the old saying almost goes: one man's kipple is another LLM's dream.

The honest box: a small model, a small voice

The AI runtime comes with the game. Dialogue, memories and creature illustration run locally on your PC, without a personal AI subscription or API key. Memory retrieves notes from your conversations; it does not change the models. Each creature keeps its own local notebook. Sometimes a small voice says something odd.

Conversations and memory files stay on your device. Steam authentication, inventory requests, and creature artwork and item metadata for moderation and delivery go online. Optional app-open telemetry asks for consent. Steam and an internet connection are needed for the inventory side of life.

Creature generation uses the game's species, palette and trait rules. Artwork is painted locally and animated with runtime expressions and effects. Results vary, and a dream may take several minutes or need another attempt, depending on your hardware. The scenery in the trailers is desktop wallpaper; Kipple lives over your own desktop.

Automated checks screen chat and generated item content. Recognised crisis messages receive an authored response pointing toward real-world help. Kipple is a fictional companion, not a source of professional advice.

For a while, one small corner of your screen is awake.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Kipple uses generative AI during play. A local language model produces creature dialogue and identity text, and a local image model paints creature artwork using the game's species, palette and trait recipes, including unusual hybrids. The resulting artwork is animated by the game's expressions, blinking, motion and elemental effects.

The AI models and runtime come with the game and run on your PC. You do not need a personal AI subscription or API key. Memory uses locally stored conversation notes to provide context for later replies; your conversations do not alter the included models. Generation time and results vary with your hardware and may require another attempt.

Conversations and creature memory files stay on your device in the included configuration. Steam authentication and inventory requests go online. Generated creature artwork, animated inventory images and item metadata are uploaded to Kipple's service for moderation and Steam inventory delivery; approved items can be visible to others through Steam inventory and eligible Community Market listings.

Chat input and output are screened automatically. Recognised crisis messages receive a fixed, authored response pointing toward real-world help. Creature image prompts follow game-authored rules rather than free-form image requests. Generated items face additional server-side checks before Steam export. These checks reduce risk but cannot guarantee perfect output; AI replies can be inaccurate or inappropriate. Kipple is a fictional companion and does not provide professional advice.

AI-generated artwork is also used in store and promotional materials, including electric-sheep key art, trailer thumbnails and the illustrated desktop wallpapers seen in trailers and screenshots. The scenery is desktop wallpaper: your companion lives over your own desktop.
