STORY:

The World of Elysianna

Elysianna is a world where magic is valued above all else. A person’s place in society is determined by the amount of magical energy they possess, and over time, this has created a brutal hierarchy in which the strong rule and the weak are left to suffer.

At the center of this world stands Elysium, the seat of the King and the holiest political power in the archipelago. Above it rises the Tower of Babel, where the Divine Core rests - a sacred artifact left behind by The Lord, and the original source through which magic was once distributed fairly across the world.

Only the Mage King is permitted to approach the Divine Core. In the beginning, this role was meant to protect balance and carry out the will of The Lord. But over generations, greed overtook faith. The kings of Elysianna and the nobles of Elysium secretly developed ways to extract magical energy directly from the Divine Core, turning divine blessing into something that could be hoarded, sold, and exploited.

From that moment on, Elysianna began to decay. The powerful grew ever stronger, while the weak were driven deeper into hunger, dependency, and despair. Magic - once a sacred gift - became a source of poison, corruption, and social violence.

The world of Elysianna is divided into three main islands, each reflecting a different form of human corruption.

• The 13th Island is a barren and abandoned land associated with desire. It is home to fire mages, poverty, exile, and the spread of the Rotten.

• Blooming Maw is the land of corrupted abundance, associated with gluttony, greed, envy, and wrath. It is ruled by wood, water, and earth mages, and though rich in food and natural resources, it is consumed by inequality, corruption, and decay.

• Elysium is the shining seat of power, associated with pride and sloth. It is ruled by the elite, where divine authority, luxury, and magical supremacy mask a world already rotting from within.

Krad and Alexandre de Lux

At the heart of The Mage Slayer lies the confrontation between Krad and Alexandre de Lux.

By the standards of Elysianna, Krad stands at the very bottom of society. Being raised on the 13th Island is already considered a curse, but worse still, he possesses no magic at all. In a world ruled by magical hierarchy, his very existence is treated as an insult to the natural order.

During a clash with the Royal Guard, Krad awakens a mysterious spiritual power and catches a glimpse of a distant enemy in Elysium — a man who appears to be searching for him. That man is Alexandre de Lux, the King of Elysianna, and Krad’s complete opposite in every way.

Alexandre was born into power, privilege, and extraordinary magical talent. He commands the fundamental magical elements of Elysianna, and even wields the power of light itself. Yet despite his godlike strength, he is trapped within a frail and dying body. He knows of Krad through prophecy, and he believes Krad possesses the one thing he himself has always lacked: a strong, healthy body untouched by magical decay.

For Krad, Alexandre embodies everything he has hated all his life - a man born with everything in a world that gave him nothing.
For Alexandre, Krad is not just a threat, but a living insult: proof that The Lord’s justice may still exist beyond magic.

One seeks vengeance.
The other seeks to escape fate itself.

The Fall of Elysianna

An ancient prophecy foretells the destruction of Elysianna when the balance of the world is finally broken.

It says that those blessed with great magical power will forget The Lord, raise themselves up as gods, and place their own will above divine order. In doing so, they will lose all connection to the spiritual world, while those with little or no magic may become more attuned to it. This is why Krad possesses telepathic and spiritual abilities.

The prophecy also speaks of a world where the weak are crushed, the powerful become monstrous, and magic is twisted from a sacred gift into an instrument of corruption and ruin.

When that corruption reaches its peak, The Lord will send down a black storm to sweep away all that is tainted. Nothing will remain but ash. Only then can the world be rebuilt, and balance restored.

But before that day comes, a final question remains:

Will Krad become the blade of judgment that ends Elysianna or something even more dangerous?
