Why Early Access?

“We want to create a game with accessible but powerful space RTS content creation tools. These tools will empower content creators to create the space game of their dreams, using functionality and tools built directly into the game.

By opening up our development process early, we invite those content creators to share their dreams with us and help us refine the tools that will make those dreams reality. The game will be heavily influenced by the opinions and feedback received from Early Access participants.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will be in Early Access for at least 6 months, and likely much longer. Meeting a concrete release date is far less important than making the game the best it can be, with the help of the community. This process takes time. Because our goal is open ended, it is not possible to give an accurate estimate of when the game will leave Early Access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the final version, we plan to have more mature, feature-complete and stable in game content creation tools. The actual form of the tools will be heavily influenced by actual player creators who participate in Early Access. We also plan to have more built-in content that comes bundled with the game, both single player and multiplayer.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The initial focus of the Early Access build has been to provide 3 polished multiplayer modes, and an initial working but raw version of the campaign creation tools.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will likely increase as more features are added in Early Access, and for final release.”

About This Game


Take control of a powerful Battleship, equipped with customizable weapons, its own special abilities and unique Fighter Squadrons. Deploy it in tactical, fast paced, deeply exciting combat in a variety of diverse scenarios, from single player offline to high player count team PvP.

BATTLESHIP APOLLO Built-In

Start playing right away with APOLLO, the game's built-in campaign. A re-imagining of the game BATTLESHIP APOLLO in a more skill-based foundation, this campaign offers fast paced multiplayer combat in these unique modes you can play with your friends or against computer controlled bots:

  • DUEL: Classic 1vs1 PvP in a collapsing star. Last Battleship alive wins the match.
  • BASE ASSAULT: Use the fighter lanes to your advantage to be the first one to destroy the enemy Battleship's base.
  • RELIC CAPTURE: Move faster around the map to collect Relics and return them to your base before your opponent.

CAMPAIGN CREATION TOOLS

Battleship Athena gives you full control to create your own Campaign: A stand-alone space RTS, with Battleships, Fighters, special abilities and other assets that you can customize and define from scratch. Campaigns you create can be shared via Steam Workshop and played offline, or online with friends.

The in game creation tools allow you unprecedented creative freedom:

  • Fully customizable game modes: With flexible tools to define any number of players and teams in a Level, you can create anything from completely single player combat vs AI, to a giant 100 human player free for all, Battle Royale-style map - or anything in between. The possibility space includes many diverse co-op PvE, PvP, team PvP, and asymmetrical PvP scenarios.
  • Fully Customizable Battleships, Fighters and Abilities: Edit every little parameter of the in game units, including HP, speed, damage, agility and visual appearance - or define your own units from scratch.
  • Fully Customizable Levels, with built-in Level Editor that allows you to set combat pacing, win conditions, background visuals, and countless other parameters.
  • Learn by examining how the built-in Campaigns were created: You can clone any Campaign that comes bundled with the game or that you download from Steam Workshop, then open it with the in game tools. This gives you the best way to learn how to create your own unique Campaigns.

EARLY ACCESS

During the Early Access period we plan to create significantly more content for the game, using the same in game content creation tools available to all players. We will also heavily improve the in game creation tools. We will use creator feedback as the primary method to prioritize new features.
