What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“After seeing how our players interacted with the game during the Alpha Test and getting their feedback we couldn’t help but implement some of the new ideas that came from that experience.

We’ve continued to deepen the game loop of Go Up in the form of new skills, events, art, and music, as well as entirely new mechanics, but we still have a whole lot more that we'd like to add to the game.

Early access will not only give us the time we need to continue to implement these ideas, but also give new players a chance to give us feedback and inspire even more creative ways to Go Up.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Everything we have planned now should be in by the end of the year, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Go Up will be “done”. If, after release, we are still coming up with new ideas to add we'll just keep on adding them. There are no plans for paid DLC or expansions.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add many more random, triggered, and chaotic events (Tentacles, UFOs, and Dolphins. Oh my!) each with their own unique mechanics; Whole new levels to traverse with different themes and styles; More dark skills and upgrades; More visual effects; Maybe a dragon?! Much more chill music to ascend to, and of course new and better ways to Go Up. This is an incremental or “idle” game, and as such the sky is the limit for what could be added.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core game loop is fully implemented, with over 70 skills to purchase and an “Ascension“ mechanic to take you even further once you’ve unlocked them all (which also unlocks a whole new set of mechanics that I won’t spoil here).

During your ascensions you will experience new and varied events that can help you go higher or hinder you on your journey. Compete with your friends and the rest of the world to see who can get the highest high score. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“By putting together a free demo so that everyone can Go Up, and closely listening to any feedback we get, especially regarding balance and performance issues. We welcome and appreciate every chance we get to share our game with others, and so far these opportunities have often led to actual implementation and additions to the game. Don't hesitate to reach out on discord if you've got thoughts about the game, good or bad!”
