Collect the melons. Get to the flag. Sounds simple, right? It took our testers thousands of tries. Melon Man is a challenging 2D platformer with levels to beat and best times to chase. Do you have what it takes to beat it on Insane, where one death sends you back to Level 1?

About This Game

First we designed the levels. Then we made them hard. Then we made them harder.

Melon Man is a 2D platformer where every level is a short but challenging run: collect all the melons and reach the finish flag to unlock the next level, all while trying not to run out of lives. There is no tutorial. Start a level, die, learn something, and try again.

What makes it hard

The controls are simple and easy to learn, but the levels are hard to master. Each one is built around its own mechanics and traps. Each one teaches you something, and the next level expects you to have learned what the earlier ones taught you, while teaching you something new.

Play it your way

We understand not everyone wants the same kind of hard (the kind that makes you want to throw your PC out of the window).

  • Rookie: checkpoints in every level, so a death doesn't send you back to the start.

  • Normal: 5 lives per level.

  • Hard: 3 lives per level, less room for mistakes.

  • Insane: one life for the whole game (yes, the whole game). A single mistake sends you back to Level 1.

Reasons to come back

Your best time is saved for every level on every difficulty. Challenge your friends and race the clock. Once you think you're ready, try Insane mode. Steam achievements reward the most skilled players on the harder modes.

Do you have what it takes?

Our testers tried over a thousand times, probably even more (we stopped counting). And that was on Normal.

Back from an old backup

For a while we thought Melon Man was done for good, because the source code was lost. Luckily it turned up in an old backup, and the game has now been moved to Godot so we can keep building on it. More levels are on the way, and Insane grows with every one of them: one life, from the first level to the last. Every major level update also brings a new Insane achievement. Beat it today, and you'll have something new to prove next time.
