What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Unknown Operations: The Habitus is launching in Early Access so players can help shape the game’s core systems before the full single-player campaign is completed.

Rather than releasing with an unfinished story campaign, the Early Access version will focus on a set of handcrafted standalone operations built around the game’s main gameplay pillars: infiltration, sabotage, firefights, and vehicle combat sequences. This approach allows players to experience the core of the game early while providing valuable feedback on combat balance, mission design, AI behavior, difficulty, pacing, and overall feel.

The goal of Early Access is to improve the game step by step and build a strong foundation for the full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The current plan is for the game to remain in Early Access until the end of 2026, although this may change depending on development progress and community feedback.

This period will be used to improve existing operations, expand gameplay systems, and continue development of the full single-player story experience.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is planned to offer an initial set of standalone tactical operations that introduce the game’s core gameplay pillars.

The full version is planned to expand the game with additional story content, more weapons, enemies, and mission types, broader mission approaches, and greater gameplay variety. It is also expected to include further balancing, optimization, bug fixing, and overall polish, along with more detailed environments and a more refined presentation. Temporary AI-generated voice placeholders may also be replaced with actor-performed voice work where possible.

The goal of the full version is to deliver a more complete and polished war experience built on systems tested and improved during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At launch, the Early Access version is planned to include several playable standalone missions focused on different gameplay styles such as infiltration, target elimination, sabotage, and vehicle combat.

Players will be able to experience the game’s core systems, including shooting, movement, combat encounters, environmental interaction, and selected tactical scenarios. The current version is playable, but it is still actively in development and may contain bugs, unfinished content, balance issues, temporary assets, and systems that will continue to be refined over time.

Early Access should be viewed as a solid gameplay foundation rather than the final form of the game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of the game may increase after Early Access as more content, improvements, and polish are added over time.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play an important role throughout Early Access. Player input will help identify what works well, what needs improvement, and which areas of development should be prioritized.

Feedback from the community may influence game balance, mission flow, AI behavior, difficulty, clarity, and the overall gameplay feel. Updates will be released during Early Access as the game continues to evolve toward the full version.”

About This Game

Unknown Operations: The Habitus

is a story-driven, single-player, first-person tactical shooter set during World War II. In the game, you take on the role of Eduard Pěnkava, a soldier and later an agent of the secret organization Habitus, fighting not only against the Nazis but also for the safety of his loved ones and higher ideals. The story combines fictional and historical characters and events to create an intense and captivating experience.

Key Features:

  • Historical Inspiration: Missions are inspired by real events, such as the Battle of Czajankova Barracks or the Operation of the Three Kings. The game features accurate models of weapons and certain vehicles from World War II.

  • Vehicle and Static Weapon Control: Take the wheel of tanks, trucks, or cars, or operate heavy machine guns and cannons to turn the tide of battle.

  • Compelling Story: A narrative filled with espionage, sabotage, and moral dilemmas, told retrospectively from an interrogation room of the secret police.

  • Intense Gameplay: Destroy enemy bases, adapt to changing environments, and strategize on the battlefield with realistic ballistics and destructible environments.

  • NPC Interaction: Engage with characters through a dialogue system and uncover key information that influences the story's progression.

  • Advanced AI: NPCs dynamically respond to situations using the Utility AI system, adding realism to the gameplay.

  • Dynamic Environment: Experience changing weather, day-night cycles, and interactive environmental elements that immerse you in the war atmosphere.

Historical Authenticity:

The game emphasizes the accuracy of weapons and certain vehicles, but due to the constraints faced by a solo developer, not all building models and clothing are fully historically accurate. Nevertheless, the game strives to convey an authentic sense of the wartime conflict and its atmosphere.

Story:

The protagonist, Eduard Pěnkava, begins his journey as a young soldier who soon becomes entangled in events that go beyond ordinary wartime conflicts. From the defense of Czajankova Barracks to sabotage missions targeting secret German projects, Pěnkava becomes a key figure in the secret organization Habitus. Along his path, he encounters love, betrayal, and moral dilemmas, with every decision shaping the course of the war.
