What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We've hit a thrilling stage in our game's development where everything's starting to click into place, offering players a fun and engaging experience. Launching in Early Access means we get to bring players into the game much earlier. It's a chance for them to start exploring and give us their thoughts on how we can make things even better. We're counting on their feedback to help us refine and perfect the game. We truly value input as it guides our ongoing efforts to enhance every aspect of the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to fully launch the game by mid-2025. This schedule gives us plenty of time to listen to what you have to say and make sure everything's polished and fun.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In our journey to the full release, we’re focused on adding more maps, crafting new events and adding more hidden easter eggs for players to uncover. We also want to upgrade the game’s effects and animations to enhance the visual appeal and interactive experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of our game is in a great place right now, with core gameplay mechanics that are both robust and fun. We've introduced multiple environments, each crafted to offer varying degrees of challenge, ensuring there's something thrilling for every player to discover and master. Players can refer to the About This section for information regarding the current state of the game. It will be kept up to date as elements of the game are expanded.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not plan to increase the price of the game during or after Early Access. We believe in providing value and transparency, allowing everyone to enjoy the game at a consistent price point throughout its development and release phases. This approach ensures that all players, regardless of when they join, can access the game at the same fair price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are dedicated to involving our community deeply in the development process. Players can share their thoughts, ideas, or concerns through our dedicated in game feedback form or by participating in discussions on our Discord server. We greatly value community feedback as it is essential for refining gameplay, addressing issues, and implementing new features that enhance the overall experience for everyone involved.”

About This Game

Bump in the Night is a single-player horror game where you are tasked with investigating a haunted location that features one of many unique ghosts and a multitude of different scares.

Spooky Environments

Explore a range of haunted locations, each with distinct map features, challenges, and varying difficulty levels. Certain ghosts may find it easier to use their unique abilities on specific maps or in different ways, and each location offers unique clues for certain types of evidence.

Meet Bob and Susan

Bob and Susan are at your beck and call! Assign tasks, distribute equipment, and specify areas for investigation as you see fit. Although they're capable of conducting autonomous exploration, strategically directing them towards suspected ghost locations increases the chances of making important discoveries. You can't leave the HQ but they can.

And you can trust them. Right? Sure.

Lead the Investigation

Your team has established a command center in one of the rooms on-site, serving as the operational hub for the mission. From here, you can take command by delegating tasks, orders and equipment to your NPC investigators. Monitor strategically placed cameras through the displays, watching out for paranormal activity. Additionally, document any evidence by taking photos and logging in your journal

Deduce the Ghost

  • Each Ghost has a unique set of three types of evidence it can trigger

  • Ghosts have distinct personalities. The Trasgo likes to throw objects more than other ghosts. Ectophages like to mess with electronics. Shadows, unsurprisingly, like the darkness. Each of the other ghosts have their own likes, dislikes, and quirks as well.

  • Finally, each ghost has a unique ability or behavior that typically comes out later in a mission. You'll need to figure out for yourself...

With these three layers of ghost behavior, clever players will be able to figure out what ghost they're faced with - even if no direct evidence presents itself. However, be cautious, as a wide range of events can still unfold that are applicable to all ghosts.

Stay Alive

A common staple of the paranormal investigation genre is the "hunt" where the ghost builds up to an active state where it becomes actually dangerous.

The ghosts in BITN can indeed enter such a state, but don't think that you are safe outside of those times - far from it. Keep aware, keep vigilant, because death can come for you and the investigators under your command in unexpected ways. Remember, you're in the ghost's territory for the entire duration of your mission.

Procedurally Generated

Every investigation is unique, ensuring no two experiences are the same. If you come across an especially intriguing sequence of events, you have the option to save, replay, and share the seed that generated it.

Regroup at the Office

Rest and restore your faculties at your paranormal investigation firm's office between missions. Read up on lore, pour yourself some coffee, pet some cats.

Chat Integrations Galore

Twitch integrations are all the rage these days, and BITN is no different! Let your viewers take command of Bob and Susan, giving them orders with chat commands.

Not a streamer? No problem! You can enable your Steam friends to control Bob and Susan via Steam chat messages, if you so desire.

For those not faint of heart, a second level of chat control (both Steam and Twitch) can be enabled allowing viewers to trigger scares and attacks.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

We deeply value human creators. While we used generative AI to help speed up development, we’re dedicating proceeds from the early access period to commission artists and community members for artwork that will gradually replace it in the game.

These assets are limited to non-essential parts of the game and don't affect the core gameplay experience.

Our main focus has always been on creating a handcrafted, immersive experience for our players. We appreciate your understanding and continued support!
