What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is currently in heavy development, with several major features and systems still planned that are not available in the current version. See below for how the full version is planned to differ from Early Access.

And of course, a gameshow needs contestants. Early Access allows you to jump in easily, participate in the chaos, and help us improve and shape the show through feedback and continued testing.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect the game to remain in Early Access while we expand it toward parity with the original Gameshow experience and beyond. Planned additions include new playable roles like the Investor and Janitor, new maps and locales, expanded tools and weapons, deeper customization and progression systems, minigames, and social hub features.

Development will continue iteratively with ongoing content, systems, and gameplay improvements based on community feedback.

We estimate we will remain in early access for roughly 12-24 months as we bring the experience to the standard we are happy to call released.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to bring the game closer to parity with its predecessor, originally a Garry’s Mod gamemode. This includes introducing new playable roles such as the Investor and the Janitor.

The Investor role, the golden masked investors of the show. Investors will have access to an exclusive area to observe the gameshow. They will be able to influence the show from within the game with ingame controls, such as buttons, weapons and other controlled devices.

The Janitor role. They will be tasked with cleaning and fixing the madness of the gameshow, be that blood and gore, damaged furniture, floors, panels and devices. Also deal with the dead contestants through various means to keep the gameshow tidy.

We plan to experiment with more roles including these.

We plan to bring different locales to the show as well, so that each show can be held in different areas, currently the primary gameshow map is the alpine resort but we plan to introduce a penthouse level and others to keep the experience fresh.

We plan to increase the arsenal available to investors and the host, more weapons, tools and tricks to be used during the show. This will also include more creative means of show development, such as spawning in entities, changing the arrangement of the level and more.

We plan to improve the customizer and continue adding ways for the player to express themselves. We also want to reward players for participating in gameshows and winning. This will be done with special cosmetics, an ingame currency (we're still deciding what this currency will be used for) and experience gained to show how much of a veteran contestant you are.

We want to experiment with adding minigames and other social features to incentivize a always online social hub experience, you can hang out with other players, play games and chat. Show off your customizations earned during the gameshow, spend your ingame currency. This goal will likely carry on over into the full version.

This list is not exhaustive of our plans but these highlight some of the more exciting features we plan to add.

From there we will continue to add new features and build upon that foundation.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fairly stable and has improved many things from its predecessor. We are still missing some core parts of the show. Sometimes things can go wrong during liveshows and we apologize for interruptions but ask you to be understanding that development is ongoing.

Currently you can participate in the show as a contestant. The game features positional voice chat affected by the environment, allowing certain walls and other objects to muffle or block voices.

You can customize your contestant in the customizer in the main menu, it's fairly simple currently with clothes, hairs and a few bodies but we plan to expand this much deeper.

The show is at it's core a social experience, so we want to bring that to focus, however we have other systems to make things exciting and surprise you.

We have many events in the levels that cause mayhem, including a deadly laser, chasing exploding bombs and trapdoors to name a few, these will only be triggered during a show. Viewers can also gift contestants weapons and make special requests.

We have consumables such as a fine whiskey and exquisite cigars available in the showroom and we have a fully playable piano.

Viewers can activate a text to speech system that is broadcasted through the level to speak to the contestants on the show.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will remain free to play during Early Access, the game may cost a small amount on leaving early access, this remains to be decided. We will keep you updated on any developments on this subject.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have a discord server where people discuss the project and we consider their input on the direction of the game.”
