Deep Roots is a modern farm-life RPG about finding your place in an ever-changing community across the six local seasons.

Choose where you call your home in the town of Palmlight and become part of a town whose people, relationships, businesses, and families continue to change with or without you.

Across six distinct ecological seasons, nature transforms around you. Crops flourish and fade, wildlife moves, weather shifts, markets react, and the rhythms of everyday life change throughout the year.

There is no single way to build a successful life. Cultivate sprawling fields, tend an orchard, raise livestock, keep bees, manage an aviary, fish the coast, gather from the mountains, or live comfortably in town while farming remains simply one part of who you want to be.

Build a life, not just a farm

Choose from homes scattered across fertile countryside, mountain landscapes, beaches, and the city itself. Your home determines where your story begins with various pros and cons.

Experience SIX living seasons

Deep Roots divides the year into six ecological seasons, each bringing its own set of potential morning and evening weather, growing conditions, wildlife, resources, and opportunities.

No season is exactly the same and each one is celebrated with unique holidays and events to welcome you to the culture of Palmlight.

The seasons are influenced by several season structures throughout history.

• Prevernal

  • The snow melts and animals wake from their hibernation. Hardy tubers and grasses grow.

• Vernal

  • Flowers bloom and animals find partners to start families. Fruits, Berries, and many sweet crops grow.

• Estival

  • Peak beach vibes, sun high in the sky and animals and plants growing to maturity.

• Serotinal

  • Grasses and crops begin to dry and propagate seeds. The heat keeps animals in shelter.

• Autumnal

  • The climate shifts and warming crops flourish while some animals either prepare for incoming snow or migrate away to warmer places.

• Hibernal

  • Snow settles in, hibernating creatures are fast asleep, and only the most resilient of crops grow. But freezing waters open new places to explore.

Become part of a living town

Your neighbors have homes, occupations, friendships, families, ambitions, and problems of their own.

Relationships develop beyond the player's immediate attention. Families change. Businesses grow or struggle. Friendships form and fracture. The town moves forward even without player involvement.

Your actions can help shape what it becomes and how it grows, or reduces, the villagers in the town.

Helping families directly unlocks industries and features of Deep Roots.

Make your livelihood your own

Grow crops suited to particular climates and seasons. Raise animals with their own bonuses and needs. Maintain orchards, apiaries, aviaries, and other specialized farms. Or, combine several pursuits into something entirely your own.

Weather, supply, demand, growth cycles, and seasonal availability feed into a changing economy, rewarding adaptation rather than a single perfect strategy. 

Put down roots

Build friendships. Fall in (or out of) love. Help neighbors reconcile old conflicts, support struggling families, and discover the histories connecting the people around you.

As relationships deepen and the community grows, new possibilities emerge for both your home and the town itself.
