About This Game

Undermaze is a rich, time-limited city-building game: driven from the surface, your faction settles on the inner walls of underground caverns and sets out in search of the resource that will allow it to return to the surface — before pollution catches up with it. But the resource veins leading to the next caverns are blocked by mazes: guide your heroes turn by turn, trap by trap, and design your own maze to protect your faction.

  • In the Heart of the Colony: You’re standing in the center of the cavity, looking at the inner wall. You’re completely immersed: the world continues behind you, and the flying workers brush past the camera. You’re not flying over your colony in a top down view—you’re living inside it

  • Expansion Is Earned in the Maze: Each maze has its own countdown timer: explore and keep trying until you find the exit. Between each attempt, your heroes need to heal and re-equip themselves, which wastes time while pollution builds up.

Pollution will gradually erode your colony, making it less and less efficient: you must expand your network by colonizing other cavities in order to find the liberating resource that will allow you to halt the spread of pollution and return to the surface.

  • A Living Colony: Self-reliant workers, each with their own strengths, needs, and interests: everyone has a role in which they excel—it’s up to you to find it.

  • A dense and clear economy : Production lines, specialized storage facilities, perishable goods, operating costs.

  • Mazes for offense and defense: devise your own strategy to protect your resources from automated attacks; use your heroes to explore, turn by turn, the mazes that block access to new caverns.

  • Expansion: A network of underground caverns to explore, connect, and settle.

  • Time is running out: Pollution is spreading and damaging the caves: if you stay still, you'll die.

An Advanced Colony Simulation

  • Unique Workers — Attributes, needs, and affinities determine who is best suited for which position. At the start of the game, the game automatically assigns available workers; a search feature lets you take control to optimize these assignments.

  • A dense and clear economy — Transportation, perishable goods, operating costs, the residents’ needs, and the labyrinth’s needs all draw from the same supplies. Every decision has consequences elsewhere.

  • A two-stage search — A theoretical discovery paves the way for several applied research projects, which lead to breakthroughs or improvements.

  • A network of cavities — Each has its own resources and shortcomings. Expanding means seeking out what is missing here and finding the liberating resource. It is possible to move 06 workers and resources from one cavity to another.

Maze, Hero, and Replay

  • The Assault — Explore and Return: An unknown maze, with a limited amount of time to solve it. Traps, guardians, levers that open passages: you fail, you heal, you re-equip—and time keeps ticking away. But what you’ve discovered remains visible, and the squad gets closer to the exit with every attempt.

→ As long as the labyrinth remains intact, the vein and the cavity remain unexploitable.

  • Defense — Every attack calls for a counterattack: With every assault launched, your rival attacks your labyrinth. You watch without intervening, either in real time or in fast-forward. Their attackers also learn: if they succeed, they take a portion of your supplies, and they keep coming back until your assault succeeds.

→ Between rounds, rearrange your maze.

  • Each round generates a replay: Tactical plan, navigable timeline, statistics—understand why you lost, make adjustments, and try again.
