What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Currently, we are trying to build a modular fun fast-paced free to play shooter. These things take time and there are tons of variables to take into account and we need to get them right, Whether it'd be for balance changes, cosmetic changes or what have you. Early access is the way to get things like that set in motion before rolling out a full release, we want to have everything down and perfected by its launch date and to do that we'd need constant and clear communication with the players in its early stages of development.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're planning to have the game in early access for quite sometime, However we are shooting to have the game out of early access by early 2024.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to have full workshop support as well as a fully functional matchmaking system and completely balanced arsenal of weapons, most of which are not available/finished in the early access builds.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At the moment, we have the first gamemode implemented. The "One VS One" gamemode that pits you and opponent together to duel, We also have a fully functioning customization suite that just requires polish.

Players can expect to duel each other on our maps in this current Early Access build as well as accumulating points and customizing their character.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Currently, there are no plans to have the game at a set paid price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We're going to be taking into consideration the communities votes for maps and potentially balance fixes, there's a line to be drawn however.”

About This Game

Welcome to Battlecade, A fast-paced action-packed shooter which enables you to express your unique playstyle through loadout customization.

Battlecade enables you to customize a loadout unique to your playstyle. Whether you prefer to fight up close, keep your distance, use powerful slow projectiles, or space your enemies with area-of-denial weapons, every fighter can find a weapon that suits their needs.

Battlecade also offers a simple to understand movement kit, with Bunny-hopping and Air-strafing being universal tools. Weapons can enhance mobility further, such as Explosive weapons allowing you to rocket jump, or high-recoil weapons that allow you to close or increase the distance between you and the enemy.

Player expression is an important aspect of Battlecade.
You can customize your player with unique accessories and parts to enhance your swagger, and strike fear into your opponents. These can be purchased using Battlepoints- an in-game currency earned through playing the official gamemodes. These accessories and Battlepoints can also be traded with other players!
In addition to customizing your player, you can also customize your profile to further stamp your identity into the competition.

One-VS-One
The staple Battlecade gamemode is One-VS-One, where you and an enemy fight on a map map decided by both players, and put your skills and loadout to the test. Earn ranking and climb to the top of the leaderboards!
First to win 3 matches on 3 maps wins. Loser of the previous map picks the next map.

Two-VS-Two
Similar to One-VS-One, however ranking is decided by the total team rank. Bring a friend or queue with a random player to fight and win with your combined skill, and utilize your teams weapon composition to bring your opponents to their knees!
First to win 3 matches on 3 maps wins. Loser of the previous map picks the next map.

Free-For-All
It's you, and a large arena full of other players. Everyone is an enemy here- you have no allies. Weapons and health packs are scattered around the map to be picked up. Kill everyone! First to 30 kills wins!

King Of The Hill
Capture a point in the center of the map with your team of 4- and maintain control for a total of 3 minutes to win the round. First team to 3 wins wins the game!

Attackers VS Defenders
4 Defenders must defend a base from being taken by 4 Attackers for a period of time. After which, the teams are swapped. Win conditions are based on the time it takes for the attackers to capture the base, or by which team has made the most progress while on the attacking side.
Rewards teamwork!

Casual Lobbies
Looking for a more casual experience? Try out the Casual Lobbies, which inclue lobby-specific gamemodes such as 'Bracket Brawl', which is One-VS-One in a tournament bracket format. Hang out with peeps, and make some friends in these laid back lobbies.

We believe that modding is the lifeblood of a game's post-development longevity! As such, we would like to enable the community to mod the game to their hearts content, with custom weapons, maps, and even gamemodes that can be put on the Workshop and hosted on community servers and lobbies.
