Why Early Access?

“We've already done a successful Kickstarter for this project and been able to build a great community. We have benefited immensely from the feedback thus far on our mobile platform and we want to continue that here for our desktop version. While we do have great map building and visualization functionality there is still more to be done to integrate tools that streamline game play and integration with games you all know and love. Working together we can make the authentic tabletop experience that we've all been dreaming of. Join us on the adventure!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“While we have a roadmap for the future, building software is complex and there are a lot of unknowns. We believe in keeping the process agile and provide incremental value to our users. We imagine we will be in Early Access for approximately six months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“As we approach our 1.0 release we are working on adding tools that streamline and automate gameplay, provide in-game reference for content and character sheets, streamlining our UI to make things more accessible and easier to find, and working to support spatial computing headsets like Meta Quest and the Apple Vision Pro.

We'll also continue to add new assets and game IP from our current set of fantastic partners and some new exciting partners, to be announced soon.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version is a fantastic map building tool with the ability to network a party of friends together, roll dice, move minis, build maps together, and affords the Game Master tools including groups, Fog of War, map pinging, visibility and locking controls. We've been in closed beta on our mobile platform for several months now and have a strong community of users playing games on a regular basis and sharing all of their amazing builds and creations on the Mirrorscape Hub.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Mirrorscape will always remain FREE for players and game masters.

Obviously, we do still have to feed our developers so our funding comes from in-app purchases of terrain, props, dice, and miniatures used in creating killer maps from companies you know and love including Dwarven Forge, Fat Dragon Games, Reaper Minis, and Hero Forge.

But you never pay for the same piece twice and with our ‘top off’ system you can buy ready-to-play maps, terrain, and mini bundles from our amazing partners, and only pay for the pieces you don’t already own. Anything you purchase you can share with your players for FREE!

The app also comes with a FREE starter set of Dwarven Forge caverns, Fat Dragon dungeons, and Reaper minis which allow you to build an infinite amount of maps.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We've always valued the feedback from our amazing community since we first launched on Kickstarter. We've since grown to over 20,000 members and we review every piece of feedback we get which helps inform and steer our development. We're also very transparent with what we are doing and why throughout the development process.
