What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Write Warz is a party game — it lives or dies by how real groups play it. Early Access lets us put the game in players’ hands now so we can watch what happens in actual game nights and live streams: how fast people understand the rules, where sessions slow down, what makes groups laugh, and what needs polish.

Our biggest upcoming milestone is mobile controller support (so players can use their phones as remotes). Early Access gives us the feedback and real-world testing we need to make that feature smooth and reliable, while we continue improving the overall user experience and adding more content.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We’re currently targeting Q1 2026 for a major milestone release: mobile controller support (phones/tablets as remotes). We expect Write Warz to remain in Early Access at least through that milestone while we continue improving onboarding, stability, and the party flow.

After that, the timing of full release will depend on player feedback, performance/stability, and making sure the experience feels “ready for game night” for both friend groups and streamers.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to be a more polished and complete party-game package, with major improvements focused on “pick up and play” sessions and streaming.

Planned differences include:

Mobile controller support (phones/tablets as remotes) for easier couch co-op and stream-friendly play

A smoother overall experience (hosting, joining, re-joining, pacing, clarity, UI/UX polish)

More themes/content drops and continued refinement based on what players enjoy most

Ongoing improvements to moderation and content filtering options for streamed/public sessions

Expanded streamer/audience features and better long-term stability as the community grows”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Write Warz is fully playable today — the core loop is in place: players write a sentence, vote, and watch the story spiral into chaos. It’s already been playtested extensively in live environments and has gained recognition at events like DreamHack Dallas and DreamHack Atlanta.

Early Access is where we focus on:

polishing the user experience (especially for first-time groups)

improving stability and session flow

adding more content

and building/testing mobile controller support as the next major milestone”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Right now, Write Warz is free to start with optional paid DLC/theme packs.

We’re also actively evaluating the best long-term model for the full release (for example: continuing free-to-start vs. shifting more toward themed packs). If pricing or packaging changes, we’ll communicate it clearly well in advance so players know what to expect.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is a huge part of Write Warz. We run an active Discord where we collect feedback, bugs, and feature requests, and we regularly test updates with players and streamers.

Early Access helps us iterate quickly — we’ll keep listening to what players are enjoying, what’s confusing, and what needs polish, then ship improvements and content updates based on real play sessions and community input.”

Elves vs Samurai (DLC • October)

Our first DLC, Elves vs Samurai, lands on Steam soon. Teams split down the middle: defend the realm as the honorable Samurai or sow chaos as the dark Elves.
