What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Maybe you do not remember, but I do. Minecraft was a fantastic experience in 2010 and for the few years that followed post-launch. Many forget that It was only fantastic because the community complained, the big man listened, and fun ideas were added simply for fun.

This is that
.

We want your feedback while we are in EA. Ultimate Player Freedom can be realized alone within our small team, but if we allow people to comment on what is happening while it is happening we can make improvements/important changes earlier rather than too late.

Without early access we would have this product in development anyways. In fact, you can play a prototype from 2019 right now that took about 6 months to build. We know what we want to do, and have for years (at least I did). That prototype is only a glimpse, and it is old, it's also a prototype. This is a game. This game is what I have personally wanted to create for a little more than half of a decade and now it is coming true.

That is not to say we will not want, or even require more feedback post year 1 but our internal roadmap gives us the wiggle room to provide weekly (if not daily) updates containing our goals as well as what everyone else might want.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The Early Access period is planned for 12 months post EA launch. This may extend, but our plan is too keep it within a year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“he core features are there, but we plan to expand that list.

If we go into too much detail, the game will be spoiled or potentially over-promised but the overall plan is to flesh out the 5 floors that are required to "complete" the game, and do a lot of server, and client optimization,

This does not mean it will take us 12 months to add new content (or even a new floor), we simply do not want to promise anything that isn't there like many sandbox games do.

Remember, the game is free, you can check out how it's doing at any time.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“There are a lot of expansive features we plan to add over the coming months, but the core features are there already meaning if we were to say "hey, no more early access" there wouldn't be an uproar over a missing game.

Right now (as of Early Access Launch/Day 1) you can build, destroy, kill, "commit to chaos", talk to other players, explore at least 1 floor, collect items, and play on a persistent world.

Beyond day 1, you are free to read our constant and consistent Steam Announcements. Most people do not even read this section, but if you are then the Steam Announcements are great and probably right up your ally as an avid reader.

For those who have come from my previous projects, you know I update often and keep my messages direct. I do what I can and now with a team I can do a lot more.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The final price is shown. There will never be a price change. There may be expansions, but no expansion, dlc, etc. will ever over-shadow what you already get in the base game. The game is a free game. ”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“All feedback is welcome. Within a Steam post, a Discord dm, an angry tweet, a response to an announcement: it will all be read minimally, if not responded to.

I personally (the project lead) have years of experience knowing when and how to accept user feedback (your feedback). You can see any of my previous games and know I do what I do as best as I can.

If you have something you want added, removed, changed, etc: the Steam Discussions are the best way to talk about it.”

About This Game

Ultimate Player Freedom, that is what this game will provide to you. The ability to play, enjoy, and cooperate for years to come.

"You are in the Gigastructure, Level 2. Your journey is just beginning and there is so much more to explore.

The Gigastructure is an environment that can only be described by it's stories rather than what it is. Your fellow man is your biggest adversary here and without cooperation your chance of survival is a sure bet to be eaten by fleshbeasts, or slayed by those stronger than yourself. My bet is you get caught on fire, but that's just me.

Level 2 is where you begin your journey and is where you will learn the basics of survival. This is where you learn not to die. Death is permanent, so getting a chance to learn is usually fair and ideal.

Spending your time to learn what you can before venturing off into the many rooms and halls of the Gigastructure is important as each floor is comparable to a new world. You must learn and explore to get to the next.. each world has it's own ecosystem, life, people. It's usually a lot to take in, but for those who can get over it may one day get to an end."

This is not ARK, this is not Minecraft, nor RUST, this is Depthminer. Over the coming years, the game will evolve into one of the most sensible, and intense survival, sandbox mmos you will ever play and ever want to play.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

It's a top-down, 2D game where most of the player characters are 5x5 pixels. If you think something is too real, you probably need to seek professional help.

Additionally, this is an online interactive experience. That line alone should tell you the possibilities within this game.
